Help making my first PC build wi-fi compatible

Finally, after a few weeks of research, I got done creating my part list for my PC.
Then, I realized, I forgot to make sure it will be wi-fi compatible. I am new to this so I am not sure if any parts need to be switched out.
Also, do I only need a wirless network adapter, or is there more to it than that?
What kind of adapter do I need? Do i need to get the same manufacturer as my router?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!

justin with wifi routers and parts there are many chipset vendor out there that make the routers you see all of them have to pass wifi standard. so a hardware will work with z hardware.
on desktop there two ways to go wifi one is a pci wifi card. you have to look at the mb and it slot layout t osee what size and if there a free slot open. most of the newer mb have small pci-x slots open on the lower part of the mb. the other way if your close the the router is a usb dongle.

when you look at card and dogles you want to match up the speed of the card to the router.
old n cards are 150 speed. the newer ones are 300.
the new ac routers n is 450 and 5g speed is 800 or faster.
if your router is a newer ac router look into getting a ac card an see if the 5g side is faster for you then the slower 2.4. the 5g radio range is less then slower 2.4

According to PCPartPicker I believe the one I picked is compatible, however, I am not sure if I should just wait because we are getting a new router soon.

that a good wifi card new entry level build has the old n radio and the newer 5g. so it connect to any new routers out there.

what you can do for now is look on parts picker or online for cheap usb stick. then when the new router comes in upgrade the pc.

this should be plug and play in a usb port. to get you online now and after you get the new router to be able to upgrade without spending a lot.
