[SOLVED] Help me build a system for my friend

Hi everyone. It's been years since I built a PC and one of my friend just asked me to build one for him. His budget is around 800 Canadian. He has around 200 dollars for a 1920x1080 60-100hz monitor.

Anyone can build a Ryzen system for that amount? Not too sure on what to buy to be quite honest. He doesn't play intensive games and his current PC is like 12 years old without any GPU so anything really will be night and day for him.

The 200 is not part of the 800 and the 800 can go to 850 if needed. So it's 1000 total with some extra possible. He doesn't have a good case with his 12 years old PC. I just want all new parts.

I think I will just tell my friend to keep saving for a bit and go for a 3600/tomahawk max board combo with a better GPU but I will still let you know about this 800/900 dollars build and what happened with it if he buys it and I build it. Later!

Is there anything I should change in that? or Tweak. I think it's good but what do I know. If I could shave some dollars from this by replacing some stuff I would appreciate it. Maybe a cheaper but good PSU? The case I have no idea if this one is good or not. As for the motherboard I took the tomahawk max because it supports the 3600 out of the box but if there is another good one like that cheaper let me know.

If your friend isnt into intensive gaming then scrap that 1660 super and get something cheaper. Where you getting his operating system from ? Get rid of that RIP jaws to as some brands have been known to not be ryzen ready get the corsair vengeance lpx 3200 the white one on amazon is like 102.99

Well he isn't really into intensive gaming he has a 1080p monitor 60Hz but I just want to buy him a card where he would be able to play at 60fps in 1080p for a while. Do you think that 1660 super is a good choice? He already has a Windows 10 made with Media Creation Tool and he will be using his Window 7 key he used when he upgraded from 7 to 10.

I think he is happy with this and I am too. He will buy an HDD later. Something like WD Black. He might decide to change the case too. Now should I buy an afterstock cooler or keep the stock 3600 cooler? He lives in Canada and it's like -15C right now. So the ambient temperature isn't too hot.

The wraith that comes with the CPU should be fine if hes not planning to overclock anything and his cable management is good and has enough intake and exhaust fans as well.

He won't overclock and I will do a good job on the cable management. I intend to put 2 fans at the front as intake. 1 big one at the top for exhaut and 1 at the back exhaust. 2 intake 2 exhaust. It will be close to a neutral pressure but on the positive pressure side a bit.

Then you shouldnt have any problems at all. But just be careful with the 1660 super I'm seeing a lot of posts here with problems regarding that GPU.

Except whine coil which could happen what kind of problems? That card should be working perfectly if you get one without any problems. I have been active a lot of this forum to help people with tech problems and I have not seen a lot of threads with the 1660 super having problem. I can be totally wrong tho.

I'm asking you because I am well used to troubleshoot computers and I have not seen any threads for the last month about the issues you're talking about. Even Linustechtip, Gamernexus and Jay2cents are recommending it.

Like I said. Unless it's a whine coil a GPU should be working perfectly. If it's not you RMA it.
