I am a new builder/gamer when it comes to PC. I would like any help you can provide. Right now, without discounts, my price is ~$1200.00. These are my selected parts thus far:

Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB Dual-X Video Card

NZXT H440 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case

EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)

Noctua NF-F12 PWM 55.0 CFM 120mm Fan[/i]

Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB External Hard Drive

My questions are, to get sound do I need a sound card; to get wifi do I need an adapter or can I use my current USB adapter and download all of the drivers needed; to get my OS running do I need an optical drive or can it be digitally downloaded?

You don't need a sound card unless you have some sort of hifi headphones or speakers. You can download the drivers on the usb thumb drive then transfer over (or if you mean wifi adapter that would still work). You can download the windows os, but make sure you get a legit download. To be safe just contact Microsoft for the links.
