Hello,
I'm soon to be in my final year of high school and I am trying to build a PC that will get me through my last year of high school and 4 years of college.
This computer will be doing a lot of gaming and some entry level editing, I plan on using most adobe products and 3D software as well. (I also kept my eye out for anything on sale which is why it might be in this list)

* Budget is under 3k *

Here is my list:

*Every thing from amazon*

P.S. I am only 16 and don't know ALOT but I think I know a fair share about computers, I know that graphics card in kinda over kill but it fits the budget.
Please leave comments with any suggestions, Thanks!

Yeah, I am covered on my college fund.

New Intel CPU's and Motherboards will be out sometime next month. I would probably drop the sound card. Not really necessary. I would avoid that power supply and get a quality Corsair or Seasonic. Never ever skimp on power supply. Trusting all that hardware to a cheap power supply is not a good idea. When it goes, it can take everything else with it. Don't need 2400 ram either. A nice set of 1600 is enough for an Intel rig. Only AMD A-series get a noticeable benefit in performance with faster ram. HD 7970 performs similarly to a GTX 680 and costs about $50 less per card.

Thanks, I am not to worried about the new intel stuff since they said it was being designed for phones, tablets and ultrabooks but yeah I just realize this cases power supply is in the front so the blue led wont even be visible so I am changing that right now. the ram is only 2400 since they price difference was extreamly minimal since it was on sale. and i am considering the gpu change as well. Thanks again.

That PSU is made by a good manufacturer...HEI, IIRC, who makes a lot of PSUs for Corsair.

There are new desktop chips coming out as well. The performance increase will be roughly 10% over current chips at about the same price. That is the only real reason I suggested waiting with the launch date being so close. Ram you are still paying about $50 more for very little if any performance benefit. I would go with something like this. http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-DDR3-1600-240-Pin-BLS2CP8G3D1609DS1S00/dp/B006YG9EEW/ref=sr_1_72?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1367856699&sr=1-72&keywords=16+GB+Kit+%282x8+GB%29

Alright cool, thanks guys im looking at everything you have said but since the new chip sets are coming out I will probably just wait for that.

Thanks a lot for everyone's input, but I am gonna go ahead and put off all plans until the release of the new processors and ill go from there
and also alot of credit to *logainofhades* you saved me a good chuck of money for my new build plans.

I'd have to agree, the Dual HD 7970s is a better option than the Dual 680s. Me personally, I wouldn't really care about Haswell, it's only a 10% improvement. Only thing it's going to be better at is overclocking.

Also, If you live by microcenter, you can pick up a i7 3770k for $230.
