Hi all! I need to get a new 22" monitor for my gaming machine. I have narrowed it down to 4 within my price range but don't know what to look for in regards to specs to know which one is best. Can someone please break down why whichever one they think is best? What do the spec numbers mean exactly? Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Oh and this will be running either an 8600GTS or 8800GT/GS.

Hi All,
I have the same basic question.
Are there any web sites that are offering good side-by-side reviews of LCDs? (its been 13 months since Tom posted anything).

My focus is primarily for work, so text clarity and color fidelity are the most important factors for me...not games.

Thanks in advance.

Hehe yeah I'm also looking for one. One of my mates has the Samsung 226BW and he loves it. I've used it a bit and it seemed good, but I don't have a lot of experience with 22" screens... Although I can tell it has great viewing angles. Might be worth a look.

EDIT: I've just spent a couple minutes looking around, and the general consensus seems to be "get the 226BW".

I had done much research before buying this Acer 22inch and i have been very pleased with it .

Hello everyone, I decided not to start a new thread ...hopefully this helps out the OP as well.

I'm trying to decide between the following 22" LCDs for gaming and some photo editing ( using Lightroom and Photoshop - I will probably calibrate the monitor using something like Eye One or Spyder)

Dell SP2208WFP
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-6252

HP W2207

Viewsonic

Gaming and photo processing/editing are of equal weight for me, so I need decent response time as well as decent color viewing angle. I understand all 22" panels will be TN but am not willing to pay $400 and up for a decent 24" from an established brand.

I am not interested in a larger monitor for movies etc. because I already have a Panasonic plasma that use exclusively for movies/TV. If I ever decide to upgrade my Xbox to a 360, it will connect to the plasma as well.

Thanks for your input.

Krane, I just bought the Samsung Syncmaster 2253BW 22" with 8000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms GTG (grey to grey). It's absolutely fantastic IMO. The only thing bad about it is a slight amount of black light bleeding top & bottom but you only notice it when the screen is completely black. Paid $298 AUS @ MSY.
