I currently have a choice between these 4 monitors. All are priced exactly the same in the store I'm going to buy from. I only plan on playing at 720p or 1366x768 resolution since that is the res where my pc can max out some games and my pc can't handle 1080p gaming.

Here are the monitors:
1.) AOC 19.5 inch E2070SWN WLED Monitor
2.) BenQ 19.5 inch Wide LED Monitor, DL2020
3.) BenQ 19.5 inch Wide LED Monitor, VL2040AZ
4.) Philips 19.5 inch WLed Monitor, 203V5L

After checking all 4 monitors, I saw that #2 is the only one with the max res of 1366x768 while the rest are all 1600x900. Since I plan on gaming at 720p only, should I go for #2 or should I go for the higher max res and just switch it to 1366x768 when I get it?

Ben, it sounds like you already did your homework and know what you want. But If I were you, I would buy the higher resolution 1600x900 (#1 or #4 in your list) and enjoy that. If the graphics card can't handle gaming at 1600x900, then I'd either look at upgrading your graphics card, or choosing a lower quality settings in the video options of your games, until the game is playable.

Also 720p is 1280x720 pixels, not 1366x768. 😀

Thanks. Is gaming at 1366x768 on a 1600x900 monitor ok? I choose to stay at 1366x768 because I can get exactly 60 fps on most of my games right now at their current settings. Also, why did you say #1 or #4? What is your reasoning behind this? You did not mention #3. I'd like to know. 😀

Kind of semantics, but 1280x720 and 1366x768 are both 720p. The resolution Bentongfu said is actually true 720p. Kind of silly. Blame the industry 😛

As for the question at hand, I would consider what options you have for upgrading. You might want to save some money in the long run by spending a bit more now on a 1080p monitor and just lowering the resolution. As long as physical screen dimensions are the same, it won't look any worse than 720p does, and if you ever upgrade, you have 1080p capability. Just a suggestion!

Personal preference. I wouldn't touch BenQ with a 39.5 ft foot pole. Low quality products. - That doesn't mean they haven't gotten better in recent years, but that's up to you to decide. :)
