Help me choose a motherboard.

Hello guys, i am building a PC for first time, and i don't know what motherboard to choose.I am thinking between these motherboards.

1. MSI Z97-G43
2. ASUS Z97-A
3. ASRock Z97 Anniversary
4. GIGABYTE GA-Z97-HD3
5. ASUS B85-PRO GAMER (My favorite for now)

These are some of the motherboards that i choose, i don't know which one is better , there are all the same price in my country (kinda) So my question is,which motherboard will be good for overclocking my i7 4790K on 5Ghz and my GTX980 Strix on 8Ghz MEM.

My PC components are:

CPU: Core™ i7 4790K 4GHz LGA1150
GPU: GTX 980 Asus Strix
PSU: EVGA 600B 600W
PC Case: Segotep K7 RGB Fully Tempered Glass Mid Tower ATX Gaming.

I was thinking to put all my new parts in my old trash H81H3-M3 PCI Express 2.0 Motherboard but its stupid idea.It's better to buy a freshly new motherboard and case, AND PSU my old PSU was some kind of fake trash 650w TURBO X with only 1 6+2 PCIE Pin.

1. If this is a gaming MoBo, you will want a decent sound subsystem. These basically have 'substandard (ALC 892) and below substandard (ALC887)

1. MSI Z97-G43 = ALC 892
2. ASUS Z97-A = ALC 892
3. ASRock Z97 Anniversary = Realtek ALC887
4. GIGABYTE GA-Z97-HD3 = Realtek ALC887
5. ASUS B85-PRO GAMER = Doesn't matter as can't overclock

2. 5.0 GHz is going to be a hard goal for a 4790k ..... less than 10% make it, most use water cooling

3. Aside from the sound thing ... none of those would I categorize as a "good overclocking MoBo"

Among Z97 boards the ones that had the best aggregate gaming scores over at overclock3d were:

MSI Z97 Gaming 9 - 100.00%
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - 99.86%
MSI Z97A Gaming 6 - 98.96%
Asus Z97 TUF Sabranco -...

with the % indicating that the last was 71.01% as fast as the 1st. The Sabertooth did very well for me ... and the two "Gaming 5" boards were both near the to of the list, very affordable and had great sound subsystems (ALC1550).

Other information which you might find relevant is that the % of board owners who where extremely dissatisfied with the purchases on newegg giving it the worse possible 1 egg rating were:

Asus Z97 TUF Sabranco - 9%
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - 15%
Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 - 15%
Asus Z97-A - 26%

Not with the numbers you see above ... 89 % as fast as the best perfomer ... 26% of board owners are extremely disappointed w/ their purchase. We were basically an Asus shop for 10 years but our Z87 and Z97 builds (other then the Sabertooth) were a huge disappointment. But I can not recommend any Z97 board with an ALC 892 sound subsystem. When we do system upgrades, folks often offer the stuff we take out for us to keep. Even for free, I won't take it.

Under reviews tab... things have gotten worse ... only 40% of users are really happy (5 eggs) with the board and a whopping 29% are extremely unhappy... I look for at lest 50% 5 eggs (or at least 65% 4 + 5 eggs) and 20% or less on 1 eggs. Yes there's a lotta folks who don't have the skillz and blame the board but that can not account for such a large number.

Can u suggest me a better motherboard than Asus Z97 A for $100.I am not giving more than that for a motherboard.

The two Gaming 5 models were around $105 when they were still current. As they were extremely popular and the Z97 is now 2 generations old, it will be difficult to find them. The reason the Z97A is still around as 2 generations back was because of the reason s above and a lot remained unsold. They are new ones on e-bay fr $80 and used for $40-50.

For current generation stuff at that level, you are going to pay $130. As the article says here the MSI Z170 SLI Plus set the "baseline" and the Z270 continues in this vein.
