Right, let's get to it. I think my power supply is going bad. I have been writing a paper for my class, and have noticed some warning messages from AI Suite about power fluctuations. Great. HWMonitor has been able to catch some too. Double Great.
I spent a little bit of time looking for some potential buys, and conferencing them with Tom's Hardware's tier-list. Here it is:
Tier one:
Seasonic M12II: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151106
XFX Pro XXX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207022
Tier two Class A:
Corsair RM650: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139054
Enermax Triathlor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194109
I, personally, am leaning towards the XFX, since it has the bigger fan and is the first tier. The same with the Corsair, although there is also the gold rating and full modularity. The others I included because they were quality items, and I wanted other peoples' input on the selection. I am by no means an expert, so I accept any criticism or helpful pointers happily.
Does anyone have any personal experience with one of these, or have an opinion?
Lastly, although I think 650 watts might be overkill, I wanted enough headroom for any future overclocking I may make attempt at. :\
My rig, for what it helps:
FX-4170
Radeon HD 6870
crammed into a Corsair 300R
