Hello! We are currently having issues with our DIR-655 router, its pulling down speeds fine, upload is hanging and giving slow uploads, so I'm just deciding to go with something newer.

What would be a good router for gaming? pricing is technically not an issue but i dont want to pay extra $$ for nothing. I was also told about a wireless AC technology that allows you to use an adapter to obtain wifi that is as efficient as wired?

If so would this work or would it be overkill?

Please let me know and thanks! :)

my upload speed with the specific dlink hangs during speedtest.net runs for like 5-10 seconds, then ill get anywhere from .05Mbps - .8Mbps. It should be anywhere from 2-3Mbps. Connecting via modem directly is fine, and even connecting via ethernet cable to the router directly is fine, its just wifi that keeps being all jank. Its on channel 6 which shows its fine, clear of congestion. ive tried messing with turning off QoS, and ive set a manual upload as 40,000kbps as opposed to auto. ive even set a static IP, alas im not for sure what could be the issues, rather than with the router directly.

We have a Cisco router that was brand new, but that one doesnt even give us 10Mbps down half the time when we should be around 20-30 constantly, but it gives us the 2-3Mbps upload. so im figuring either theres a setting that needs switched somewhere, or just get a new router.
