Put in your Dell model number and the configurator will list RAM suitable for your system:

its a dell 8300, so yeah, the first link was great! great price for 512mb . thats prolly all i need, just a little boost cause im gettin a 7600GT agp too. so just to keep it from bottlenecking

I just upgraded a Notebook with some Crucial RAM last week. I used Crucial's Live Chat to verify the PC2700 DIMM's compatibility with my system. Worked perfect. Crucial is great RAM. You'd think they were Micron on something

they do seem pretty good, great prices, i just looked on dell , they have the 1024mb for like $135, crucial has it for like $60-$70 . how much ram do u think i should get? i have 512mb now. i could get 512MB more for $36.99, i could get 1GB for $70, or 2GB for $135. what do u think would be good for my system? i am getting a 7600GT and more ram for some gaming, like call of duty 2 and css and stuff.

If it's a back up system as opposed to a computer you use everday at home or work, just add a second 512 mb. A GB of RAM works great with windows xp 32. 2 gigs work better, but only if you need it for heavy gaming, film editing, multitasking and general power using.

i probably game atleast 6 hours or more a day. im a true gamer, so should i get 2GB, take advantage of the $135? thats way my system wont bottleneck either. anyways i have another question. will 305w handle 2 gb more of ram and a new vcard, the vcard says 300w minimum, but people on newegg are running off of 280w dells, so i might be good, not sure though. the ram says it draws 2.6v , which is good. so i might actually be good , what u think?

I honestly believe you would be better off getting the 512 now, save your other $100, until you can pull another $60-$70 together, and then switch out your mobo and proc for a Asrock 4coredual-vista board and a E4300 proc. The performance boost from that would far out weigh the boost you will get from another gig of ram, and the asrock board supports both DDR and DDR2 giving you room to step up upgrading later, and also AGP and PCI-ex, helping you once again to take your time in upgrading.

yeah that sounds pretty good, since my bro says save some money, get pcie. and i say agp upgrade then pcie later. well im going to add u to my buddy list if i need any help with that. so i think ill just buy the 512mb bc its only 30 bucks.
