Help me choose right hdd, sshd, ssd...

Hi, I have vostro 3750 with i5 - 2430m cpu. So my laptops hdd dead last days. I have two options: buy budget hdd, sshd, ssd, and throw away with that laptop, make a gift for someone and etc. 2nd option buy better hard drive, and latter add to pc build. Budget ~50 $ for budget hard drive, and ~100$ for expensive, better hard drive. Also I have one question? If i choose 2,5" hdd, sshd its performs good in pc? Need something reliable, and fast...

With a set budget only choice is between SSD for speed or HDD for capacity. Hybrids can be a problem even with 3.5" drives and richer BIOS in desktops.
