[SOLVED] Help me choose the right GPU

Hi everyone, I'm new at this so your advice is greatly appreciated, this is my current pc.

  • Ryzen 2600
  • B450 pro M2
  • Corsair Vengeance 8gb 3000mhz X2
  • 1tb HDD
  • Gt1030 2gb
The use i'd give them would be for 720p game recording (1080p if possible) and casual video editing. I've done some research and these are the cards that I can afford but there are many aspects I don't understand and might be crucial for my usage.

Budget: 170-180$

  • Rx 570 4gb gaming strix
  • Rx 560 4gb Evo oc
  • Rx 570 armor oc 8gb
  • Rx 580 gaming 4gb
  • Gtx 1060 3gb
  • Gtx 1650 4gb
In my ignorance more GB is best but again there's more to it than that :unsure:. Thank for your time

First, what is your PSU? That will matter a lot. The power use of all these cards is a lot more than your 1030.

Of the cards you listed the fastest are the 580 and the 1060 3GB. The 580 is the probably the faster card overall, but considering how little power the 1060 uses it might be worth a look. The 570 is another ok card but I wouldn't bother paying for an 8GB model.

That's one theory sure. But you are talking about a so so PSU, with a 2yr warranty, that can put out 360W on it's 12V rail. 250W will load that to 70% of its output. I have no issue with loading good PSUs that high or even higher. (I loaded my 450W with an R9 280 that had a system draw of ~325W for years. But that 450W was lightyears better than the EVGA N1.) Frankly I would want a good PSU if I'm spending what little money I have on parts. $200 isn't something I'd want to risk losing after 1-2yrs because my PSU failed on me.


You are also talking about a 30C PSU? And one that even brand new has a ripple on the 12V rail of 100mV? Yeah, that's a no from me dog. I'm sticking with the suggestion he upgrades that as soon as he can.

I'm not saying the OP shouldn't buy a new PSU, just that what they have should be sufficient until they get a new one. The Ryzen 2600 system it self should draw somewhere around 80watt during gaming and the EVGA GPU that I mentioned should be somewhere around 100watt under full load with the reference 1650 Super being around 75-80watt. Even with the low efficiency, 180-200watt draw and terrible ripple won't put a huge strain on it. The 250watt figure is only when benchmarking or fully pushing the system, which is not something 90% of users would be doing. 550watt Bronze should be the minimum anyone buys for use with a mid range GPU.

Hey man, PcPartPicker shows a total of 334w. I've seen an EVGA 500w Bronze would you consider it an option too? Btw how good are Coolermaster and Corsair PSU?

250W tops is the more accurate power draw. As above, probably even less. I would plan for the max however so 250W is what you should plan for.

An Evga 500w bronze, I've also seen these for around the same price:
  • Corsair VS650 white
  • CoolerMaster 550 white and 500 white. Again for around the same price. Btw I plan to stick with my build for around 2 or so years. Thanks

You did not say the model of the EVGA and the CoolerMaster. The VS series is so so and only if it's the 2017 version. The 2012 version is horrible.
