ok guys, new here, know this is the best forum, with most competent ppl so i hope to find the right answers here.
shouldn’t be too hard anyway.. 😉
i just bought a Broadwell-E intel 6800k cpu (Max of PCI Express Lanes 28) and a brand-new SSD 960 EVO NVMe M.2 500GB (MZ-V6E500BW)
also i’ve a Gigabyte 980 4GB “Windforce G1 Gaming” Graphic Card (GV-N980G1 Gaming-4GD Rev.1.1) and 2x16 GB Corsair Vengeance 3000 DDR4 Ram as well (buy 2 more soon for Quad)
ps. i don’t need a new mobo, a used one is just fine. and btw ATX Format.
nfo:
Just sold all my old LGA1155 stuff and therefore I’m onto the 2011/3 tip now and i did choose the 2011/3 platform before Z170/270 because i liked the benchmarks of the 2011 cpus. i also know there are new x299 Mobo coming up for the 2011/3 in 2017 but i need a working mobo now 😉
Im mostly doing music (Ableton, which uses multiple CPU Cores and do 3D Renderings, and just some Gaming)
SOoooo.
the Samsung is a NVMe drive. I’ve read it “only” needs PCIe 3.0 x4. So i was reading heaps and just got more confused.
Asus released their X99-A II Board and saying
“Next-gen connectivity – Great flexibility with onboard U.2 / M.2 slots that tap into 32Gbps of PCIe bandwidth and USB 3.1 Type-C.”
Asrock released TaiChi and a Fatality (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/asrock-taichi-fatal1ty-x99-motherboards,31956.html)
which have a Key-M for faster SSDs (which the 960 is i suppose??)
also on older Asrock boards like Extreme4/6 or x99x Killer Asrock says:
Ultra M.2 (PCIe Gen3 x4)
The World’s Fastest M.2 Socket - PCIe Gen3 x4 The onboard M.2 socket is a new interface for connecting Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF) SSDs or other devices. ASRock is the first in the world to implement PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 socket on motherboards. The ultimate Ultra M.2 interface pushes the speed up to 32Gb/s which is 6X faster compared to other M.2 Gen2 x1 solutions that are limited to 5Gb/s.
also this Gigabyte Board “should” work: GA-X99-Ultra Gaming ??
NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 22110 M.2 Interface & U.2 Interface for Intel® SSD 750
so do i need NVMe specifically written as on the Gigabyte Mobo ? or Key-M or this Ultra M.2 or is it all the same 32Gbps ? or work just any PCIe 3.0 m.2 slot with the 960 ? Do they all support NVMe then if it says 32Gbps ?
i mean after updating, whatever board i choose, to the latest BIOS, of course. 😉
