Hi, I just built a pc and i need a graphics card. My pc is intel 3770k, 850 watt psu. I don't really play a lot of games ( i like flight sims, a little skyrim, sim city, other sim games (farm sim etc.) I do want to be able to max out the settings on games and really have a nice picture quality and no lag. I have always been a mac laptop user and never had a real good gaming experience. I watch movies on blu ray too. I don't much care for 3D. I have 410 USD to spend on graphics card, but I don't want to spend more than i need to because i don't play games that often. I will order from amazon or newegg.

thanks!

Firstly can you be more specific with your hardware. Skyrim tends to be a bit more demanding however playable on decent settings on most mid tier to high tier cards.

Please list part/series/manufacture.
CPU:
MEMORY:
MOTHERBOARD:
POWER SUPPLY:

Just without knowing what you currently have these are the card series I would recommend the GTX660 non ti its faster then a 7850/7870 but not quite as fast as a 660Ti, or 7950. Also its enough to run games on decent settings but in games like Skyrim you may not be able to max the game out completely.

He is looking for a card that will give him all that he needs he isn't looking to spend the full amount I would suggest the 670 as well if he were looking to spend the money. He is running low system requirement games and doesn't really need anything that crazy if you can get a 670 on the cheap something like this (link below). That being said like I had said he could get a 660 non Ti and be more then fine with the games he currently plays. Save the extra cash and move on.

Well, he can get GTX 660.
I have one and it run all game Ultra 1080p 40+fps

So you can get that too.
But getting a GTX 670 or GTX 660 Ti is more future proof.
If you have money, then spend it now.

Other specs are beautiful already. So spend on GPU.

We need to know your resolution. The 7850 is superior to the 660, and cheaper. and the 7870 handily beats the 660Ti. Neither of the 660s get recommendations due to poor price/performance.

The only game you listed that needs ANY gpu power is skyrim.

A 7850 will do fine on ultra at 1080p.

AMD cards are only better in those games. Maybe a because of new driver of them.
Thats old now.

But he'll surely play any other game in near future.

Considering the 7970 costs the same as a 670, and is in every way superior, and even the 7870 beats the 660Ti, nevermind the 7950 those are not great choices.

I wouldn't go as far to say the 7870 handily beats out the 660Ti that is a pretty bold statement. Also keep in mind that with driver updates that places that review void as things have changed since then performance wise same could be said about the link I provided. Don't make bold statements without backup. I'm sure others will agree from both camps.
