Hallo all

Right now, my current CPU ( Q6600 ) cannot do VMware because it does not have VTX feature. Right now, i "forced" to upgrade my entire rig ( Q66, GTX580, 8 GB DD2 ) because hardware issue.

My Candidate is list above. I am planning my next CPU with :
Z87
32 GB Corsair CMY32GX3M4A2400C10R (4x8GB) Vengeance Pro
Asus Maximus VI Extreme

OR

X79
32 GB Corsair CMY32GX3M4A2400C10R (4x8GB) Vengeance Pro x2 = 64 GB
Asus Rampage IV Black Edition (not avaialble yet)

And GPU, maybe gtx780 or newer version ( if available )

So, do you think i need to upgrade my PC now ( or maybe till christmas max ), or should i wait for Hasswell - E. which is next year?

When i am buying Computer, i always buying a top-of-the-line ( or slightest below it ). Because i planning to use my Computer for at leash 4 - 5 Year. Maybe with GPU to upgrade ( i always play game in PC )

So, what do you guys suggest? Thanks

What do you think about this one? I think it is one of the best build you can even get.

Are you doing this on professional level? If yes then go with the X79 platform because it is the fastest and time is money. The system can handle up to 12 threads at a time
Do you want a good upgrade for the Money? Then the Z87 and I7 4770K is a massive upgrade from your current system. The system can handle 8 threads at a time.

@rolli59

Thanks for your explanation. Yes, its for Pro Level, as i worked as consultant for Virtualized solution. But if anyone can suggest anything, it will be helpfull for me.

Okay, now its time for picking up CPU. 3930K or 4930K. No need to rush, because i will using Asus Rampage IV Black Edition as mainboard ( unless its not coming till xmas, i will use other product.

Any feedback and sugestion? Thanks

Sagitarius, I'd say wait.

The new AMD GPU's are coming out, and AMD gpus are generally better for VM's.

Since you are doing on the pro level, I would highly recommend the 4930k, + the ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition, or if you aren't overclocking, the X79 Deluxe from ASUS.

Haswell-E is coming out with DDR4, and I have a feeling that DDR4 ram won't be cheap.

It's up to you however, and I personally would pick up the 4930k + X79 Deluxe and wait for the new AMD GPU's to come out.

Oh and the 32GB of RAM is highly recommended, as you are running a VM.

The new AMD GPU's are coming out some time next week, and generally in real word scenarios, AMD GPU's are just better for VMs.
