Hi,
I would like to buy a new monitor for my MAC PRO (Early 2008). Graphic card is NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GT that unfortunately has only 2 DVI output.

Online specs say:
Maximum Digital Resolution: 2560x1600
Maximum VGA Resolution: 2048x1536
Standard Display Connectors: Dual Link DVI

I would like to choose DELL Ultrasharp 27" 2560p*1440p but:

1) monitor has only hdmi and displayport ports
2) I don't understand if (and how) I can obtain 2560p*1440p with this card

Can you please help ?

Thanks, best regards

will the graphics card work with this system? yes.

will it probably be slow as hell? also yes.

I think that any 1080p IPS monitor would be great for your setup, as long as you're looking to do basic computing, and not anything more, like gaming, video/audio edition, ect.

Now, I am using 1920*1200 24" monitor.

Do you think that going 1920*1080 27" wil be a sort of downgrade ?

Thanks.

I have a GT 9400, which is a little worse than 8800 GT, but I overclocked it to 770Mhz core, I can play DOTA2 on low on 1440x900.
I wouldn't recommend 1080p, because this card is old, and I'm not sure if it'll play anything on 1080p.

Do you think I can go up to 2560px1440p with the adapter ? Specs report max digital resolution and max vga resolution ... I don't understand which is my case.
