Hi guys
Please help me.
I have a hp compaq 8000 elite small form factor with 2 gb ddr3.
I just bought a 2 gb memory stick and its same as the one that's come stock in my hp pc.
But i don't know how to install it because when i open the pc case i noticed that all memory slots or channels are the same color (white).
I don't know if my pc support dual channel or not?? And what channel i must install memory stick are the second one next to first memory stick that come with pc? Or the third??

Solution

Yes thats right, basically the middle of the 3 white slots.

And yes CPU-z can tell you if you are running dual channel. http://imgur.com/vZhbajv

Which slot is the current stick in, if you can take a picture that would help a lot.

So heres the thing you should put ram stick in every second slot so it would be dual channel so here imagine this -O-is empty slot -I-full one IOIO or OIOI get it ? Thats the way that you should put your ram.

there is 4 slots in my motherboard . the first slot is black and the other three are white
and as you can see the the black slot are used by 2gb ddr3 ram stick that come with my pc
but i dont know if i should install the second memory stick that i bought, in the second white slot next to the black slot or the third one?

well I think that you should put it in second one so you would get dual channel memory and your pc would run a little bit more smother .

the first slot (wich is black) are already used and the other three slots are empty its like that : b1 w2 w3 w4 or
dimm1 (black and already used) dimm 2 (white) dimm 3 (white) dimm 4 (white)
i think suppose to instal the second ram stick in dimm 3 to run in deal channel.. maybe?
please guys help me im noob at pc parts and stuff
