Question Help me decide please!

I am building a new rig finally. I build a new one every 3-5 years and it's been 5 years now!

I typically spend a lot of money, $3-4k each time, basically get the best processor/GPU. For my new rig, I want to game at 4k (graphics whore) with max FPS. So GAMING is the most important factor.

My favorite games are MMOs (CPU dependent?) but I really enjoy gaming in general.

Having said all of this, I read that when you go 4k that the CPU may not matter as much. If I purchase the best GPU that I can (between now and April of next year), does it make sense to build a Ryzen 7000 or Intel 13k series rig?
I could save a lot of money by going Intel 12K series. Will I bottleneck a GPU with an Intel 12k or AMD 5000 series processor?

If were to upgrade the GPU half-way, let's say in 3 years, would a current gen CPU be fast enough without bottlenecking a future GPU?

I hope my rambling make sense.

I'd wait 3 more months at least. There's a lot of conjecture about both amd and Intel platforms, stuff that always happens with early adopters. By that time, many of the kinks and bugs should be worked out, and gives you time to plan for both, see which has the points you can live with and which has the deal breakers.

Neither one will have any issues with any game at that level of computing power and graphics ability.

The cheaper B760 boards along with the locked cpu's will be available by then and those will be hot sellers imo just like the current B660 boards + locked cpu's.

Tough call tbh. The reviews for the 13900K, 13700K and 13600K will be out later today so that should give you a better idea of what direction to go with your build.

The 13900k can pull @ 280w-320w depending on the mobo and workload, which is essentially beyond big-air territory and full into 360mm AIO as a minimum, 420mm as ok and full custom loop if you want to try and keep full load temps at anything under @ 90°C.

Pretty much ties a 7950X with a 3090Ti or below, takes a 4090 to really see any gains at 1440p and that's in the @ 5%-19% area.

So if you don't plan on spending @ $4k+ for a pc, don't bother with a 13900k platform.

If I were you, even having all that money burning in my pockets, I would wait a little bit.

Zen 4 barely have 1 week since launch and it went from 95°C its goign to burn my house, thats insane!, It consumes 180Watts, OMG!, I need a 360mm AIO to run it! (Yes I did those comments to), and now many of us who keep track of reviews and investigations know that you can run Zen 4 cpus with even the (not included in this generation) cheap Wraith Stealth Stock cooler. Of course is better to go for something stronger like an Arctic 34 esport DUO or even better a Deep Cool AK620.

Now Raptor Lake launched and information is all over the place, one review said Intel crush AMD at gaming, many other show they trade blows, in most of them you find out the old Ryzen 7 5800X3D laugh really bad at the face of all this new chips, still been the number one in some titles. So yeah Raptor Lake is here, but it just landed, kinda soon to know what we have here yet.

So if you are not in a rush I would wait, and keep investigating, reading and watching reviews.

About Intel and gaming, I feel that most likely this will be like we all see with intel's 10th, 11th (wait... was there an 11th gen ?) and 12th gen, the new i5 13600K with some tunning may perform really, really close to the 13900K while costing less.
