Which Processor do I get? I’m looking to build a low budget pc so im going with AMD for the processor. Id like the processor not to cost over 100 dollars so I listed what appeared to be the better ones below that price… Id like the processor to be at least 2.8GHz and for it to be a quad core but would be fine with a tri-core with hopes of unlocking the 4th core when I got it. I also listed a dual core for the same reason. The pc would be used for searching the web(youtube, facebook, ect)basic video editing and watching movies. I was planning on buying a graphics card when I got a little more money and I don’t really know if that should effect which processor I should get. Also if you have any suggestions for motherboards and ram to go along with it please list them. THANKS!!!

Since you want a quad core and core unlocking is a gamble that may not work, I would grab one of the Athlon II X4 processors, and you might as well just get the 640 as it is within your budget.

+1 the athlon quads perform reasonable well considering the low price tag

what is your budget for the rest of your system just to give me an idea of what motherboard and ram is in your price range

I have an AMD PII X2 550 (non Black Edition) that unlocks and is completely stable as a quad. I don't know how well it will OC because I never tried. I have it listed on Ebay right now with a Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme. Great CPU and I would still be using it had I not got such a great deal on my current cpu/board...$250 ain't bad for an i7 860 and GB P55A-UD4P. Personally, if you buy new I agree with the previous 2 posts. I built my parents a pc with an Athlon 2 X3(4th core not stable) and notice no considerable differences between it and the three cpus I have had since building my parents pc(as far as gaming and general pc use goes). I've had a Q9550, PII 550 and my current i7 860. It all depends on what else you use your pc for really.
