So I am in the market for a gaming rig with a budget of around $1500.00, I have been debating between a 3060ti Desktop rig I found and a 3060 Laptop rig I found. The only reason I am debating is I am active duty army.. I cant seem to make the decision on what rig to go with. I need portability but I can live without it.. Any advice? Does a 3060 laptop preform enough to play demanding games? I want to future proof myself for at least a couple years.

There is no such things as Future proof. My rule of thumb is buy the best you can afford at the time

I am only really considering laptops because of a future deployment.
the 20 series will be comparable to the 30 series GPU in most modern games today. A 20 series mobile should hold you up for at least several years from now.
I bought my Asus ROG Srix, GTX 1060, i7 7th gen, 16gb about 3 years ago and its still able to power through all current games today.

I was a prior Army guy too. Thank you for your service.

Thank you! I can buy a decent 2070-2080 for my price range.. Should I buy a 3060 laptop or?

yea absolutely, I'm guessing the 3060 will be paired with an AMD 4series or an i7-10series right? Anything from an RTX 2060 and up will do you good!
I bought my other ASUS ROG Strix for about $1300 tax included. Specs on that latop are: RTX 2060/AMD Ryzen 4900s/1TB SSD/240hz 3ms. Banger deal, and it slices through COD WZ at 100+fps stable.

Biggest differences between the 2060 and the 3060, is that the 3060 outperforms it by 20 percent, and about 10 percent better than the 2070. 2060 uses less power though and the laptop build for this GPU will be much cheaper.

3060 however is the more future proof card, and its amazing for it being a mobile. Its comparable to a lot of these desktop GPUs. Go with what will makes sense financially for you. Like I said, you can't really go wrong with either, even though the 3060 build will be slightly better and slightly more future proof than a 2060/2070 build.

Yeah I agree, IF I do end up going laptop instead of desktop I will be going the 3060 route, Once again thank you for all of the help and information
