Help me get my Fallout 3 saves back from MS

Am I the only one with the problem that I can't load my fallout 3 saves without being logged into this stupid LIVE crap? I really really don't want to have to do anything with LIVE. I don't want to log on AT ALL. Yesterday I had to go online to this XBOX account site (Seriously WTF. I'm a PC gamer) and had to agree to some BS new EULA from MS LIVE. That whole thing makes me extremely angry. All I want is to play Fallout. Nothing else. \rant

Does anyone know how I can free my saves from evil MS? I would really appreciate any input on that. Or at least I'd like to know that I'm not the only one that's angry about this...

I have no idea how I managed to do that. Or how they managed to trick me into doing that. However; I cannot load saves unless I am connected to LIVE.

*cries...

I fear they are not stored locally...
And that is a whole new level of being pissed off for me.
Somehow the savegames of such a game belong ONLY and SOLELY to me. That is what I feel.Don't wanna anyone else to know what kind of decisions I take in a game. HEY! That's my privacy...
Darnit!

You will find the saves for your LIVE! profile (on Vista) under username/documents/My Games/Fallout3/saves/<profilename>.

Not sure where on XP though. But they are stored locally.

The way it works is simple. There are 2 sets of save files. If you are connected to live and save a game it is saved in username/documents/My Games/Fallout3/saves/<profilename>. BUT if you are not using live then when you save the files are just in username/documents/My Games/Fallout3/saves/. There are both live saves and non-live saves.

if your still havin that issue man, i had the same problem.... I just went to the saved games in my live profile under my documents/my games/fallout3/saves/(profile)... then copied them out of the profile to the saves. Loaded F3 back up and worked. I tired windows live to see what it was.... big mistake.

As mentioned, the problem is that using Xbox Live on the PC means that all your Live-enabled games save their files to a different folder, that the game onlybothers to access if you're logged into your Live account.

As mentioned, just find the folder where they are, and move them. If memory serves, if not logged into Xbox live, it places and uses saves in the My Documents/My Games/Fallout3/Saves folder, much akin to how Oblivion worked. If you're logged into Xbox Live, it instead looks one further folder down; in that same folder I mentioned you should find a folder with the same name as your Xbox Live account. THAT is where your saves are; copy them out of there and up into the plain "saves" folder.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the location of game saves in Fallout 3. I prefer the method Bethesda used in Oblivian where you can tell it where to save your games.

Wow, thank you SO much...I was having this exact same problem, and this method works like a charm.

Thanks sooo much, man.
