so what do i do now? i tried a second time and nv flash crasehd again. is there anything i can do

update: it wont let me even put back the back up bios (the original one so to speak, i cant do jack!!! it keeps saying the gpu has no rom (code 0000000)
what do i do???

i am flashing it to raise minimum voltage from 950mV to 1.01V to make my system stable (i have a gtx560ti nvidia) since whatever i do on my pc i get driver failure, black screens and even freezes/restarts. i dont want to change my bios version or overclock it, just to make it stable (or "more" stable)

What is the current situation of the GPU, is it worse off then before any flashing was done?

Also, is the GPU overclocked? Usually voltages are raised then there's OC'ing involved, so make sure the GPU and memory clocks are stock.

Since you were getting these issues, see about getting a warranty replacement, I think that would be your best solution at this point.

the card is about 5 years old so warranty is sadly out of the picture. the situation is the same, i cant seem to upload or write the "new" bios. as a matter of fact i cant even put the original one back on:
nvflash asks which rom to put (i type nvflash64 -6 backup1.rom) it asks for confirmation, i press Y, it gives some checks and notes, then it says clearing original firmware image (does that) then says storing updated firmaware image. at this point i get "windows: nvflash stopped responding, shut it down/look for a solution online).
thats how im left without a bios inside my gpu atm, and i i dont know what to do cuz i read that if i shut down or restart the card will be brick

Not sure where you got the bios firmware file to flash your bios.

But if the device string of the bios file does not match the board device string or the one that should be listed.
in the existing saved bios file.

Then flashing is not performed and the result is NV flash crashes.

Have a look here for a bios firmware file for your model of Nvidia card.
Also when you run NV flash make sure you run the program as an Admin by right clicking on it.

Or system permissions can force the program to stop running, terminate the program before the flash process starts.

The Gpu device string, and model vendor of the bios file must be the same or again flashing of the bios will halt.
And NV flash will terminate crash.

Click on details where it will show you the device ID string.
Plus the settings for gpu clock/ mem clock settings and voltage table on the techpowerup bios file repository page.
Command switches may have to be added when running NV flash and the selected bios file, to by pass integrity checks that can prevent flashing.
Or it can be rejected, again the usual sign is Nv Flash crashes when trying to flash a bios firmware file to the card.

hey all after lurking around what i have found is that the version of NVfalsh i was using was faulty (somehow) and i all had to do was using a different one and the flash was performed ok. atm i put on the "test" rom (the one with the hightened voltages from 0.95V to 1.01V).

atm i am yet to reboot the pc and test the outcome of the flashing. is there any risk of bricking the gpu? if not what could be the signs of excessive overvolting?

If the flash went through successfully, then go ahead and reboot, you SHOULD be safe. As always, there's always a risk in bricking the GPU doing the GPU BIOS.

Excess overvolting will generate more heat, and if you're not careful, you can fry it.

Hey there. I riupped the drivers and now i get a black screen/monitor entering power save mode Right after the windows loading logo. I hrlear the startup sound on a black screen. Any advice? Wasnt raising the voltage a way to increase stability?

The reason you tried to flash it was because the card was crashing "i am flashing it to raise minimum voltage from 950mV to 1.01V to make my system stable (i have a gtx560ti nvidia) since whatever i do on my pc i get driver failure, black screens and even freezes/restarts". It's more than likely the card is bad, flashing a different firmware to it will not fix that. What you did was not likely to fix what your symptoms show the issue to be. What you were trying to do was the wrong thing to do in your situation, what you needed to do was test the card in another system, try a different power supply, maybe underclock the card to see if that helps it run properly.

The only thing the new firmware did was make the issue worse since you are sending more voltage (and heat) through an already failing card. It's like taking a car engine that has issue and instead of driving slowly with it and having it looked at, you add racing fuel and try to go 150 mph on it.

after reading these among tens of other threads here on tomshw http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2705987/increasing-core-voltage-amount-damage-graphic-card.html http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/273623-29-overclock
all of them state that random driver crash+black screens (and up to pc freeze/restart) on the 400 series and 500 series can be solved (or at least mended) through raising voltage as long as one keeps an eye on temperature. i only want this piece of garbage to work and i have no clue what im doing wrong 🙁

should i put back the "old" firmware? (the original one i saved before making the change?) if so what would be the next step

Don't touch the firmware or voltages anymore, just make sure everything is stock. Try troubleshooting it safe mode to try and get it to work.

If everything is still behaving the same, it sounds like you have a failing card from the beginning.

Fun fact i actually managed to turn on the pc by doing the following start in safe-disable gpu from dvc manager-turn on normal mode-dvc manager -turn on gpu at restart.

It started and worked for abt 3 min then black screens and after restore it worked 2 more min then black screen + shutdown.

So what do u mean should i do? Put back on the original (backup) bios?

Small update: i restored the voltages to original ones. Also i went to safe node and removed every nvidia driver with driver sweeper, then installed them again (for the fun of it) cuz desperation is an ugly beast.
Result: 1 black screen at startup, 5 minutes of idle then 4 black screens in a row, last one followed by auto shutdown.

Now i pulled the card out for dusting. I feel defeated. I am open to literally any suggestion (that doesnt involve money)
PS if its any help this whole mess started on friday, after i installed a game (ac3) which i didnt even get to play (no new drivers no new srttings or utilities)
