I just got myself a brand new gaming pc with those:

Pentium 4 3.2
Radeon 9800 pro
Viewsonic p95f= 19 inch monitor

Most of my friends are console addicts and i want to show them how ugly their games looks on a tv.

What is the best looking benchmark, tech demo, movies, animation i can get to show em what a REAL gaming machine can do.

Dont know of any for consoles but there is now console on earth that can best your rig. Playstation 2 is using a geforce 2 32mb card with a 300mhz cpu. The xbox is using a P3 733mhz cpu with 128 bit, which is about 2.9ghz in 32bit terms with a geforce 3 ti500 or 4200 64mb card just not sure. Just a fat chance in hell that a console could outperform your rig, despite the console's resources are dedicated to the games. Now if you have crappy amount of ram, then its possible for the xbox to smoke ya!!!

Barton 2500+ @ 2200mhz (10x220 vcore @ 1.775)
Asus A7N8X Dlx 440 FSB
1gb Geil GD pc3500 Dual Channel (2-3-3-6)
Segata 80gb SATA 8.5ms seek
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro(420/700)

Your best bet is to run some DX9 effects.

This is the only one I know of that is visually stunning, and something no console can match. I like it as a demo.

Otherwise you will be hard pressed to really make a lasting impression. Nothing very groundbreaking.

A nice comparison is Morrowind on the Xbox versus Morrowind on the PC. With a good graphics card the PC version has so many more effects (reflections, better ripples, betters lighting/flicker effects, etc) it's a perfect contrast.

FYI, games don't look ugly on a TV, they look better because of the imperfections of TV. To really show them which is better, hook an XBox to a computer monitor, they do sell devices that do that. Then you'll see the imperfections of the consoles. I think you'd be in for a surprise to see that there isn't much of a diff if you run most games at lower resolutions, but obviously the PC can go higher and therefore look better.

I don't understand this whole PC vs Console war. I love BOTH my XBox and my gaming PC. I don't know why people are so hung up on which is better. Both have their advantages. Enjoy them all!!!

Not sure where you got those specs from, but just to let you know. THe PS2 has a 128bit 300mhz CPU and no separate graphics card. The Xbox has a 32bit 733mhz CPU and a graphics card that equates to about a GeForce 3.5.

I had 2 choices:

1- Regular title = Less views, more on topic replies.
2- Flashy title = More views, but less on topic replies.

I went with option 2

Meh....a thread titled "Show me some great tech demos!" would have gotten more replies.

second of all, u can't compare console megahertz against computer megahertz, people just dont understand that = = just because X-Box is clocked higher doesn't mean it OWNS PS2 and GCN eyes closed.

psh~~ get lost u semi-troll~~

I'm about 99.9% sure you're wrong about that. It's possible they have similar technology. But MS was simply looking for a reliable and cheap GPU when putting together the system. The main focus was DX performance and not the API NVidia was working on for their FX chips. They wanted tried and true technology that would be simple to program for, unlike the difficult to program for, PS2.

The vid card in the Xbox is a beefed up GeForce 3.
I think it has an extra pixel pipeline or something like that.
So it 1 and a half generation before the FX line...
