Help me. Lost cause here :-)

I am trying to create recovery discs for an acer 8935g. The drive keeps on spitting out the dvds saying that the disc Isn't empty even although I've formatted it. The laptop has a blu ray drive, do i need blu ray disc to write to?

No. But use a new blank DVD disk.
