help me my laptop screen turn dark

Plz help me... i dont know what happen to my laptop screen... it suddenly turn black or dark...but all the system still running..i barely see the apps running..my friend told me that i had problem with the motherboard but i seriously dont know anything..plz help me solve this problem..

It is toshiba L840.. it is totally dark but i can see my desktop if i use my phone light...even if i connect the charger nothing change
