I've played console for quite sometime now but have now decided to move to pc. I have a pretty high budget (worked my ass off for a few months) but still won't want to spend an insane amount and want to keep my budget in mind.

CPU-wise I'm debating between Intel's i7 4770k or AMD FX 8350. I know intels's is obviously better but AMD's is cheaper. Is the extra money worth the performance boost?

GPU-wise I can't choose between the GTX 690 or SLI 780's. I'm looking to play mostly FPS's like BF4 and what ever is coming up and really want to get high Fps

the area in which I haven't done much research is motherboard wise. I'm looking for one that will last and could be upgraded.

Feel free to call me a noob (I know I'm one) but I've done a bit of research and would simply like more input. please give your suggestions and I'd very much appreciate it

Wow that seems to be a $1800 build brother! Congrats. Anyway, If you would be just PURELY gaming, I suggest the i5 4670k. But if you want the i7, no problem. Because IMHO, the i7 is overkill for games. You only need the i7 for workstations and not gaming rigs. Even if you SLI 780s there, the i5 won't be bottlenecked. Anyway, I suggest the 690 too because it will need less power and it will produce less heat. That means you'll run a more stable PC. For Mobo, you can check the ASrock Extreme models, and for ASUS you can check the Asus Pro models. I really don't suggest the more expensive ones because you won't be using the features on those. It would be a waste of money.

BUT then again, if you have that much money and you really want to have all the expensive parts, then go for these:

I7 4770k
ASUS MAXIMUS VI EXTREME
16gb of Corsair Platinum Dominator
Then the new 780ti (if you can wait), If not then go for the GTX 690 or the 780 slis
Then CORSAIR HX Series HX850
