So... At Christmas I got some new hardware. Including a motherboard for other reasons which is a Asus P8Z77-V LX. I also got a Belkin Network Card (Part # F5D7000) but the network card isn't very good. When gaming it keeps dropping in and out of connection. I don't know if its the network card not being very good or the positioning.

So I would like to know -
Is it the positioning of the network card antenna or is it the network card itself?
What other network cards that will be good but not a fortune?
and
Is there anything I can do to boost the internet reception to my PC?

Thank you

Most likely you are conflicting with another source...use a WiFi scanner and pick a channel that does not conflict. Another thought would be to go into your card's properties in Windows and look for a setting that would take it out of a power saving mode. Device Manager->Belkin Card->Properties...good luck.

How far is your router from your pc? I have a 10m cable and if there are any losses due to cable length, the speed is still much better than wifi. There are freeware wifi test software available (google for options) and you'll have to run tests at the nearest point to router, then farther and farther away.

If at nearest you still have the problems, then the card/antenna has problems.

Thanks it wasn't in a power saving mode.

Thanks but... The Ethernet cable for the location isn't very practice

alternatively, you could move your router closer to your PC. Try positioning your router away from walls or metal objects which may absorb the wireless signal, and also position your computer away from corners and metal objects as well.

Ok. Im beginning to think the network card is terrible as the inbuilt one on the old motherboard worked fine.
