Good Morning Experts!

I am seeking recommendations to optimize my internet at home.

I have a Motorola SB6141cable modem.

Set Up #1 = 155 Mbps down and 25 Mbps up

Cat 5e (4 feet) directly from cable modem to desktop.
Desktop (Windows 7 64 bit, Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller (8111E Gigabit LAN Controller featuring AI NET2))

Set Up #2 = 95 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up

When I am connected to my desktop via 10/100M LAN Port on the WiFi router.
Channel: Auto, Mode: 11bgn Mixed, Channel Width: 40 MHz, Max Tx Rate 300 MBPs

I have this Wifi Router Rosewill RNX-N300RT, Wireless N300 Wi-Fi Router, IEEE 802.11b/11g/11n, Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates, 2x 5dBi Fixed Antennas, DD-WRT Open Source Support

The router has updated firmware and it is not flashed to DD-WRT.

Set Up #3 45 Mbps Down and 6 Mbps up

When I am connected via my desktop's 802.11N Wireless LAN Card (100% Signal)

I have this Wireless LAN Card Rosewill RNX-N300X IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 (PCI Interface) Wireless Adapter (2T3R) Up to 300Mbps Wireless Download Data Rates 64/128-Bit WEP, WPA PSK and WPA2 PSK (TKIP and AES) Frequency 2.4 GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166051

Other equipment using WiFi from WiFi Router

#1 Three Wifi Printers (99.9% on sleep mode)
#2 One Edimax EW-7438RPn V2 300Mbps Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender, Repeater, Wireless Bridge, Access Point http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315112
#3 Game Console only when turned on.
#4 Tablets only when turned on.
#5 Two Windows 10 Laptops (get about 80-90 Mbps when connected)

Other Equipment connected via LAN ports on WiFi Router

#1 One Dish Network equipment connected via power-line adapter
#2 One Netgear WiFi Router for ADT Security via power-line adapter
#3 One Vonage Equipment via Cat 5e

There are 2 additional desktops (25-30 feet away) . But they are in sleep mode 99.9% of the time.

Additional Desktop #1
Signal Strength is 91%
It gets 35 Mbps Up and 6 Mbps down

Windows 7 64 bit has this Wireless LAN Card Rosewill RNX-N300X IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 (PCI Interface) Wireless Adapter (2T3R) Up to 300Mbps Wireless Download Data Rates 64/128-Bit WEP, WPA PSK and WPA2 PSK (TKIP and AES) Frequency 2.4 GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166051

Additional Desktop #2
Signal Strength is 90%, Line Quality is 100%
It gets 40 Mbps Up and 6 Mbps down

Windows 7 64 bit has this Wireless Adapter Rosewill RNX-N180UBEv2 - Wireless High Gain N300 Wi-Fi Adapter - IEEE 802.11b/g/n, (2T2R), Up to 300 Mbps Data Rates, USB 2.0 Cradle, 5 dBi High Power Antenna, 2.4 GHz

How can I optimize my Internet and Wifi setup? I have checked and I am not on the same channel as my neighbors' Wifi. All desktops and drivers have latest updates and drivers.

#1 Should I Flash my WiFi Router to DD-WRT and see if anything improves?

#2 Time to invest in new WiFi Router and WiFi Adapters for 3 desktops?

#3 Buy a Gigabit switch?

Any product recommendations please.

Regards and Thanks
Google Fiber is scheduled to open next in my area, but no time-frame yet.And I am not sure yet. if I will get that .

Solution
The fastest connection you will get is the direct ethernet connection. Your connection will only go as fast as the slowest bottleneck. A fancier router may help out. It might not be worth upgrading the desktops in sleep mode unless you are downloading and uploading a lot off of them. If they can maintain a steady connection of at least 5/mbps, then they can netflix HD no problem. It also depends on how often you have multiple devices running at the same time. If you do this, then a better router can certainly help out.

It mostly just depends on what you use your network for. :) - Gigabit switch + Google Fiber is definitely the best way to go for the highest possible speeds.

Thanks Autocrat!

If I buy a Gigabit Switch then would I get same speed of Set Up #1 in Set Up#2. Right now the speed is limited to 100M LAN Port on the WiFi router?

One additional desktop #1 does get heavy use on weekends. I do not know where the slowest bottleneck is, but Windows 10 Laptops have good WiFi (80-90 Mbps) when used and they are same distance away.

Should DD-WRT help?

Network uses heaviest internet under this scenario

Main Desktop (Websites)
Additional Desktop #1 (Website / Steam? Online Games)
Two Windows 10 Laptops (Websites) (then Additional Desktop #1 is in sleep mode)
One or two Tablets using Netflix simultaneously and sometimes along with a Game Console Online Play (then no Additional Desktops are being used)

It should. The slowest link in that chain would be the Modem.

I am not familiar with DD-WRT, but from what I can find reading around, if you have internet over 50MB/s, you can get some modest improvements in speed out of using it.

Reading over your device descriptions, a higher end router is definitely worth the investment. It enables multiple devices to be used at once. If you try that on a lower end router, the lag/speed reductions are fairly noticeable.
