Hi. I could use an advice on making the system cheaper.
My first idea was:
- Intel Core i5-13600kf
- Z960 motherboard like MSI Tomahawk
- MSI RTX 4070 Ventus 3X
- Kingston Fury 2x16GB DDR5 5600
- 750W MSI Power supply
- Lian Li 216X case

The system purpose is gaming, going to upgrade to 1440p monitor at the same time. Not sure about the overclocking, was never serious about it.
So...
- Is it worth it even buying Z chipset motherboard for this CPU, or should I save and just go for a good B760 one?
- Will I lose much by going for DDR4-based motherboard and memory at the same time?
- Should I swap the "new and cool" processor for something lighter, like 12600 or 13400?

You might want to pass on a PCPartPicker list to help us save some more off your build. At this point, it's anyone's guess what you have access to, where you're located and what we can save with just your specs list in what it's listed as in your thread's body.

One other thing to note, you're spending a sizeable chunk of your money on a build, best not skimp into questionable territory(go with lackluster quality components).

If you want to skip the Z series chipset, there's no point holding onto a K suffix processor.

DDR4 will give you about the same performance.

There are Z690 boards with USB Bios flashback. Asrock Extreme Z690 is a good example.

You can also look for some cheaper case alternatives.

13400 and B760 board choice is upto to you. You can stick with the 13600kf for the clock speeds and still go with the B760 board if its cheaper. But looking at US proces, the Z690 and B760 boards costs about the same.
Atleast the ones with good VRMs, like 12 phase minimum.

I've been touting the 12700KF for a while. About the best deal that you can find. I snagged one for $200 back on Cyber Monday.

8P cores at up to 5GHz, vs the 6P cores found in all the i5s.

And this $99 AsRock motherboard is hard to pass up. I keep thinking I should buy one just to have as a spare.

DDR4000 is pretty cheap and gets you just about the same gaming performance as cheap DDR5.

You don't have to overclock, but it is fairly easy to get 5Ghz all core on the P Cores.

In regards to gaming: DDR4 3200 > DDR5 5600

The 120mm fan goes inside the back of that case for a rear exhaust fan.
