Help me overclock my e4400

I want to overclock my cpu but i dont know alot about overclocking, ive read that overclocking this cpu can bring it close to 3ghz.
Ive tried myself a couple of times and got the halt.

My CPU is an: E4400 2.00 GHz
i have a 550 watt power supply
and my Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-N650SLI-DS4

i did read it but i diddnt understand most of it, like the abbreviations and such.
