First of all, here are my specs.
Athlon 64 3000+ sock 939 winchester
Patriot 3200 Ram (1gig)
Gigabyte nForce 939 Mobo
XFX 6600 GT vid card
Stock cooling

Ok, my original goal was to get this to 2.4 Ghz. With the problems I've been having, I'd be happy to get it to 2.0 Ghz. So, for lack of a better program to use, I've been using Easytune 5 to OC my system. But I hit about 1.9 Ghz and boom, comps locked up. And windows never starts again. Twice I've had to reinstall windows. I'd be really happy if someone could like, give me a step-by-step on how I should go about OC'ing this set-up. Thanks.

Use the BIOS!

Software Overclocks suck.

Press del at the post screen to enter the BIOS. There is an overclocking FAQ at the top of this section btw.

Oh My God! Use the fricking BIOS to OC your rig. Software sucks.

"Use the Nforce Luke, the Nforce!" You are committing O'C sins and now must go to confession. You need to raise Vdimm to 2.8v for your memory. You need some exta Vcore for that A64 CPU if you want it to go faster. You then need to raise your buss in BIOS manually about 6mhz at a time like everyone here is suggesting. Read Scott's guide and you should do just fine. Remember to watch temps.

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power

Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot

I have had lockups and poor results myself using the GigaByte Easytune utility. Use the BIOS, it is solid and works.

BTW, disable C.I.A. before overclocking, this will cause problems if enabled.
