I wanted to keep it closer to 150USD.

My current options are the following:

1.-Asrock Z270 Extreme4 @ 168USD.

2.-MSI Gaming Pro Carbon @ 175USD minus 10usd rebate.

3.- Gigabyte Aorus Z270x Ultra Gaming at 170USD.

I am upgrading from a B150M mortar, only beacause I need a home NAS and I decided to build it using parts I currently have, and to be honest because with my i7 7700k I feel the itch to overclock and upgrade...

I do need toslink output, because I use the Mixamp TR for Dolby headphone.

A third requirement is that it must support SLI, should I decide to upgrade my GTX 1070 through that route.

I am big on sound, but to be honest when it comes to gaming I think dolby headphone with standalone headphone amplifier and hi end headphones is as good as it gets. I only need toslink output to use either the mixamp pro for gaming or the modi 2 uber for music (as DAC, obviously). If you think I can bypass those because of very good DAC and headphone amplifier for my HD600, please do let me know.

Thank you, guysfor taking the time to make a recomnedation. I researched the Ultra gaming and ended up ordering the Aorus Gaming K5 above the Ultra gaming and at this point I cant even remember the difference between the two. I did make a spreadsheet and there was SOMETHING that standed out in the K5, maybe it was the ability to use certain tridentz memory I have lying around here... but in the end they are both practically the same motherboard.

I will be receiving it tonight and will probably install it inmediately. I will try to post about its overclocking abilities with my i7 7700k with a Noctua NH-D14 cooler.
