Help me pick a hard drive

Hello, I have a Crucial M4 SSD as system drive, and I'm looking for a quiet, fast response HDD mainly used for media storage, torrent downloads. Does "access time" have impact on performance?

I have two choice now, WD caviar Black 1TB and Samsung EcoGreen F4 2TB.

They are about the same price on Newegg.

Would you recommend other HDDs?

The WD is one of the fastest and best drives but the Samsung would handle your needs as well so it is pretty much up to how much you value and/or need the additional space.

I would go with the WD Black drive. Its a 5 year warranty. Its a faster drive. I use this exact same drive for the same purpose you do. I never have any issues.

True. But is there now a difference between the Western Digital antedeluvian drives and the post-Thailand Flooding of 2011 drive quality?

I believe that is the meaningful comparison.
