Help me pick best gaming card

Hi,
I wanna replace my dear/old GPU (DAMN U DX11!) for other single card solution.

My monitor's max res 1680x1050.

My wish is to continue playing current and new titles on DX11 on (uber/ultra)high details on single monitor!

We need a bit more information before we can suggest anything..

What is your budget?
What is the make/model/wattage of your power supply?
What CPU do you have?
 
CPU Intel i7 920
PSU 650W (last time I checked most of single GPU's will be handled ok)

About budget ... lets say its "unlimited" but I need card for max performance on upper named resolutions, HIGHER RES PERFORMANCE MUST BE IGNORED!

personally i chose the 6950 2gb over the geforce 570 because i read about a fairly sizable amount of 570s failing. sort of a reoccuring thing with nvdia tbh. i hate to sound like a fanboy, ive owned more than my fair share of nvidia
 
GTX 580 but you will push that PSU hard. Id go with 570 maybe even 560 ti to be safe. Amd 6970 should be okay maybe 6950 2gb. These are for ULTRA SETTINGS these cards are meant for 1920x1080.GTX 580 requires minimum of 600w psu with 8 pin connectors so make sure you ahve those
 
I was also thinking about looking at more RAM solution (same as my current who has double than other same models at that time).

I'm playing Rage atm and found posts about tweaks that for higher textures requres more than 1GB GPU RAM.

I want to have GPU for next 3 years to do it's works same as my current does.

I was thinking about buying MSI N560GTX-Ti Hawk =1.750,01 local currency

But after reading more and more about GPU's RAM greed that comes from future and some current game titles, it made me wonder about my decidion and posted my question inhere to ask real gaming veterans about it.

GTX560 is a good card. But 6950 is cheaper i think. No need to spend cash if its not useful. If you have some upgrades in the near future in mind then best is to get something now that will cover for that upgrade as well. Like if you upgrade to a bigger better display at a higher resolution then the GTX560 may come out short!
 
Please stop trolling about HD6870 1GB that is slower than HD6950 2GB on same resolution.
Compare HD-697A-CNFC Radeon 6970 Video Card, Radeon HD 6950 Video Card, Radeon HD 6870 Video Card

I posted in comparison also HD6970 because I found HD6950 can be flashed into HD6970 and with some power tweaking I get performance of real HD6970 with less total power consuption.

When I summ all my posts above, my choice would be:
Gigabyte GV-R695D5-2GD-B

Have any of you tried flashing it, is it REAL and STABLE?

No one's trolling here. They are all making a suggestion. All that was said that a HD6950 is overkill for your demands. If you want to spend the cash then go ahead. The link you posted is another thing which says its useless to get the HD6950. You may put a HD 6950 and get 100FPS and a HD6870 and get 80FPS, you would not even notice the difference! So what's the use??
 
exactly; everyone is gving you very valid suggestions, and at said resolution, im guessing 60hz? so 60 fps will be the max you can detect on that monitor. at your res, the 6870 will be just fine. but if you want overkill, and plan on upgrading your monitor, then by all means, have at it its your money.
 
I don't want to start flame war or troll fest, but only open discussion.

My monitor is 60 Hz (max 60 FPS)

But as you can see ... on max details AnandTech Bench HD6870 vs HD6950 1680x1050 only HD6950 is closer to 60 FPS on all tests.

I posted that I'm looking for HIGH END GPU under 1680x1050 that will last for atleast two years.

Also note that upcomming Windows 8 have "new" DirectX...
 
After few digging ... in alpha/developer version ... there is DX 11.1

.1 stands for polished version of software that uses same DX11 hadware.

But thing is that every Windows OS brougth new DirectX (..., XP = DX9, Vista = DX10, 7 = DX 11) than Win 8 = DX12?

Hm, it seems I'll have to w8 for a little while to see what new PCIE v3 GPU's will bring this winter.

Then I'll go for nerfed PCIEv2 graphic cards with then latest GPU's.

lol people make suggestions for you after you have asked for them.. and then you accuse them of trolling when they give you great suggestions for your system?

If you have an unlimited budget, get yourself dual 580's with a 1000watt psu. That will surely give you the performance that you want. Otherwise, it seems you already made up your mind on what you want, so I don't know what else you want from the community.
 


We all know that dual solution doesn't give 100% more than same single solution (not to mention frequent driver/hardware issuies on more card solutions).

I made up my mind thanx to neonneophyte's suggestion and I continue to dig more about it later to see if his post was solid or not.

I called ppl "trolls" for suggesting me lower/cheaper solution that was opposite that I wanted/asked.

No you called people trolls because you don't know what you are talking about. If what you meant was "I absolutely need to max out my monitor's ability to display frames on the highest possible settings in every game in existence" then that is what you should have said but most would consider that a pointlessly high standard and a waste of money. If you come to ask advice from experts then don't respond to that advice with dismissive insults. It is rude and entirely uncalled for.

FYI most current HD6950s cannot be flashed into an HD6970.

For Your Information I have found info about what can and what can't be flashed, where is shown that Gigabyte still can (unlike Sapphire...)

@jyjjy & {other "(anti)paladins"} Being smart & lazy is worst combo ever, so take your time, get pen'n'paper and write down progress "chart" if needed. Study it, READ it again, think, then post something rock solid.

The Gigabyte card you linked is the reference model. All reference models can be unlocked and they are also exceedingly difficult to find on sale new and/or at a decent price at this point.
As for the rest of your post... you are barely coherent. Why do you think I haven't read the whole thread? A "chart" showing the progress of what? Lazy how? (Anti)paladin? All I can tell is your are trying to be insulting again(apparently because I told you, properly, that it was inappropriate) but your failure to communicate on a basic level has left me with only vague guesses about what I'm supposed to feel insulted about.
