would this card definitly work on my computer though.I dont want to risk buying it and it doesn't :D.And could anyone recommended anything else ?.

No - just get the 5670 - it draws only 65w max - it also runs on 250w PSUs. Though it's really only good for smaller resolutions and up to high settings in games...

OR buy a 500w PSU and replace yours (way easier than it sounds) - then get whatever video card will fit in your case. This option will work much better for the latest games.

I've got a Dell and decided to upgrade mine to play games too - I used an HD 5670 for the last year on Dell's 300w PSU, then a friend gave me an HD 4890 so I swapped out the PSU. Like I said, this is way easier than it sounds. Just pay attention to what connectors go to which slots.

A 500w+ PSU and an HD 6870 will play everything well up to 1080p, and it will only set you back about $230

Because of being PCIe version 2.0 card versus version 2.1 not knowing the version slot on the motherboard!

The optiplex comes with a 280w psu normally. The quads are supplied with 300 psus. Two power connectors for the hdd and one in the mobo. Thats it concerning connectors on it.

Run si Sandra and post the specs it shows you here just to make sure

Can't imagine them making a motherboard that takes DDR3 but still uses a 1.x PCI-E slot.

He already said it was an HP.

Just because it doesn't list the version does not necessarily mean it is 1.x. I think it is a poor assumption myself. Even if it did have a 1.x slot the possible issue with those slots and 2.1 cards can be fixed with a current BIOS and LGA775 boards with DDR3 only came about after 2.1 cards were introduced... The odds of his computer not being able to handle a 2.1 card is microscopic IMO.

I got absolutely the same HP computer as listed above, but the only difference is that my computer has 250W power supply. Which graphic card could you recommend to buy for new games? Thank you fro your help!
