Hi
I have just bought a graphics card for this an Acer Aspire SA90 pc as it is fairly old and I want to keep it just as a media player however I am having problems with getting this to work. The graphics card is a Evga GEFORCE 210. Link below.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004NBYDL4/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Status is as follows:
1) When card is installed the PC beeps and the screen is blank as no signal is sent. I cannot install the drivers unless the card is installed (catch 22).
2) Removal of the card allows the PC to start as normal.
3) I have updated the BIOS to the latest on the website which appears to be from 2007 even though the site states 2008??
4) I am running windows 7.
5) I have read that I may have to change my video settings in the BIOS but cannot really find much about video settings in the BIOS but what I can see, I have no idea what they do.

Please advise how I can get this to work?

Thanks
Wayne.

I tried plugging the monitor into the card but the issue is it just beeps when the card is in so doesn't load in windows.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply but my bios seems to have few options and don't believe it contains this. I can post photos of my bios options if that would help?

Well it must have it if has the integrated graphics.. I never did that, so if the tutorial can't help you, I'm out of ideas, I hope someone more experienced can help you here . :/

Click the "post an answer" button. there you will have a clipboard with many options, one of them is to insert a link/picture from url.
IMO the best way would be just to copy the URL's of your pictures into the quick answer..

First you upload them to a site like this one
http://postimage.org/

Then right click on the picture and select "copy image location"
Then click on "post an answer"
Then left click where the red arrow points to and select "paste"

what is the beep code? eg 2 long beeps? 3 short beeps? Based on the beep code u can look up what the issue is. My guess is either you didnt push it in all the way (with PCI-E u have to push it firmly into the mobo until it clicks and the little release lever on the end of the slot is in the locked positon) or you dont have the power connectors hooked up properly.

I have removed the graphics card and pushed it in as far as it will go and have restarted the pc and the beeping has gone but I still do not get anything on the screen? The beeps were quite long and were just repeated.

Thanks

I just looked into your PC specs. I found a few possible issues.

#1 the video card is PCI-e 2.0 or 2.1, your Mobo only supports pci-e 1.0. Sometimes, PCI-e 2.0 or 2.1 work fine with 1.0, while others have reported issues.

#2 On these older systems, some ppl have reported compatibility issues between system RAM and vRAM. Try removing all but 1 of your system RAM sticks, re-install the graphics card, and see if it boots up.

#3 This may be insulting to your intelligence, im sorry but I do not know your tech-skill level. Make sure you are plugging the graphics card into the PCI-e x16 slot. Sometimes the x16 slot is the 2nd or 3rd slot down. Look on the mobo right above or below each slot and it should say what type of slot it is in fine print, or read a product manual for your PC/Mobo.
