I finished my 1st build a while ago (1 HOUR) but when i plugged HDMI into graphics and powered on all i got was no signal, unplugged HDMI and plugged it into motherboard and bang it worked.

I then turned PC off and replugged it back into graphics card and it booted, got to windows is loading files screen and then starting windows. It then gave me a green/white line in centre of screen and one on the far right of screen, the rest of the screen was still on starting windows. It then gave me the no signal message on screen again, I am currently running the pc without the GPU and am looking for any advice on what to do.

Is the GPU faulty?

PSU the problem?

Bios?

GPU is VTX3D Radeon HD 7870

PSU is Cooler Master GX 550W

TV/Monitor,it has a dvi and a hdmi,the motherboard has 1 of each 2

You need to boot into safe mode, by pressing F8 at startup throughout POST (Power on self test, the bios crontrol bit), selecting Safemode from the list, (could always try "Last Known good configuration" as well),

If it boots into safe mode, a low res edition of your normal OS, it may be one of two things

Either you have set your Resolution / Display Settings outside that capable of your monitor, (which is hard to fix without VGA Mode), or your graphics drivers are bad.

Look to sort both out by unistalling current graphic drivers in safe mode, rebooting into normal mode, and installing some new ones.

To unistall old display drivers, go to control panel - system - hardware tab - device manager button. Then expand "Display adapters" by clicking on + symbol, then right-click each graphics driver entry and select uninstall.

Let us know if that helps.

How am i meant to do this when the pc wont boot with the HDMI in the graphics card?

Just put the card back in,got nothing but no signal on tv with hdmi in graphics card, put hdmi im motherboard and same, removed graphics card and left hdmi in motherboard and boots up instantly.whats wrong with it man

remove video card. boot into BIOS with hdmi hooked to motherboard. look for VGA and set the video to boot to PEG-PCI-e/or set to auto if that's what's there. hit F10/ENTER to save.
machine will start to reboot. Flip switch on back of power supply after it starts to boot. put video card back in. hook hdmi to card. reboot machine.
Did you get to desktop? if so, windows will find card and install drivers for it. After that, if you want, you can go to amd's driver download site and get the latest drivers.

you may also have to make the TV see the HDMI connection. that will be in the TV's control panel. do the above first and see what happens. get back with results.

ok just waiting for windows update then will do this...when you say turn switch off on back of power supply do you mean while it is rebooting?

after you make the change in the BIOS ( hitf10/enter )and it starts to reboot ( yes, flip the switch then )...it will kill power to the system. ..... the changes you made will stick. then you can put the video card back in and hook the HDMI to that. after card is in and the hdmi and power are connected....... flip the switch back to the "on" position.......then boot machine as normal. it should take you to desktop.

after hitting the switch and it shuts the machine down......... if it makes you feel more comfortable......... unplug from wall outlet too.

There is nothing in any of the menus saying VGA,i found PCIE Gen3 which is on auto, the only other option is Disabled

My board is a MSI b75a g43 gaming

Does not boot full stop...all i see on screen is No signal but i really appreciate you taking the time out to come up with a solution and kept popping back with quick responses,if you have anything else you think might work let me know as there is always a chance my friend is wrong as all i did was tell him what i told you but he is quite knowledgeable so i dunno.
