I have been trying to get the game Call of Duty to work, but at first it was
giving me a message saying my video driver needed to be updated. I did that.
Now it is giving me this message GL_ARB_texture_compression not found. Does
anyone know what this means and how to fix it? Thank you for your time.

This is what comes up when I load the game. If anyone can help I would really
appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Your video card might not be properly supported by the beta build of COD:
CoD Beta build win-x86 Aug 19 2003

You might try experimenting with different driver versions circa 2003 to see
if the beta build will work. It's going to take some effort to get that beta working.

Go into Start Programs and launch the game in single player safe mode see if it starts let me know ok reply to this post.

Also Go and find the DirectX 9.0 latest driver online and download and install it. Check on your graphics card CD see if the DX9 driver is there if you only find the DX8 driver then your card does not support DX9 and this is more then likyl your problem as COD2 is a DX9 game.

Also if you have the Call Of Duty 2 the Collectors Edition you only get 1 CD for the whole game install instead of 5 or 6 CD's BUT it must be run in your DVD drive not the CD drive. It wont workin the CD drive in fact I dont think it will install off the CD drive it will only read off a DVD drive.

So I am guessing you ahve the COD2 Regular install with 5 CD's ?

At any rate it is most likely a DirectX problem.
