I just installed the lan drivers off the disk that came with my motherboard (Asus p8z77 v pro). My anti virus (avg) scanned and determined one of the drivers were a threat and fixed the problem, if there was one.. Is this actually a threat or would I be okay ignoring/allowing it when avg scans?

Update: I have currently uninstalled the drivers and currently using wireless again. Also, before AVG scanned the wired connection was working fine. After avg fixed the "threat" it would say I was connected but had no Internet access.

Thanks aldan. I will try this ASAP and will report back with results.

I reinstalled the drivers after I disabled AVG. Wired connection is working fine. AVG still found a hidden driver threat the same as last time. (D:\Bin\64Bit\Asushwio.sys). I couldn't imagine Asus would put a driver on their disc that contained a virus lol. So I should be okay ignoring this threat when AVG scans my computer?

Also, it is saying that it's infected.

good deal.you should be able to exclude that file from avg threat list.i had problems like that when i used avg as well.switched to avast and no problems since. likely the reason avg says your computer is infected is because of the driver.to be sure run a scan and see if anything else pops up.cheers.
