Solution
I can see and understand your frustration, You should have asked us first before you decided to build a new PC using old hardware..Your main problem is that you are building or builded a new rig using really old and used outdated hardware. Most of your hardware including your motherboard was released around 14 years ago, that means you won't get support for new drivers, software or games. And new intensive games won't play well with your hardware and drivers.

A laptop will be a better option for you and your budget..
1. what duocore2 cpu did you buy and upgrade your gateway with ?
2. please confirm the original machine upgraded is the ET1831-05
3. can you open case and look at motherboard and find a identifying label/name or model marked on it please.

I am asking these questions because the information your providing so far , only shows upgrades done to this motherboard to an E5400, not Duo core 2 CPu's, it is not because a motherboard has LGA 775 that it will support Duo 2 Core or Duo 2 Quad CPUs' and if they do, only certain Cpus are covered and not all.

So i checked and found three labels but on the motherboard it says v1.2? and by it the label says MCP73VT-PM and sorry i don't know which label it is just to let you know i've also upgraded the os to win 10 it was win 7 but then microsoft was telling me that it was outdated and also says i will get virus and malware easy that's why i upgraded the core i bought is an E8400 duo core USED but the seller said it works and checked everything was fine. The reason why i upgraded my CPU was because it kept on running on 100% usage and fan was always loud also it was very unresponsive and really really slow if anything please let me know and thanks for the help

every where else I queried about Cpu capable on this motherboard, the most common cpu was e6500 and e7500, never saw e8400 mentioned. It is possible the cpu you got used , is not "good" as seller states...

one thing you can try real quick is disconnect your power supply from the wall, open case, and slip the battery sized battery from the motherboard for 2-3 min and put it back in then apply power and try to boot to see if it will help.

I would put the old processor back on it, it can still be a "decent" desktop (not gaming) to mess with.
I have an old 14year old Du Core 2 System Myself, and use it every day for office work and video playing. see work pc in my signature.
