Hello, I primarily play CS:GO and occasionally dabble in some MMORPG's such as WoW.

My current set up is:
i5-3470
ASRock z75 pro3
8gb DDR3 hyperx
660W Seasonic platinum
1440P monitor
Geforce 9600 (needs desperate upgrade)

I was wondering what graphics card everyone would recommend, I need to upgrade my geforce 9600 desperately. I'm looking at the GTX 960 vs GTX 970 vs Radeon r9 390.

Furthermore, would there be any other cheaper graphics cards capable of running CS:GO at 1440p with 100+ FPS

1080p change things and , its hard to decide.

There are 2 options:
1) wait until new GPU releases (maybe 3-4months).
2) Go for GTX 970 or R9 390.

GTX 970 seems to be """better""" than R9 390 @ 1080p. Now, what is going on with 970? Well, the charming problem 3.5GB + 0.5GB (0.5gb are accesed lower than first 3.5GB). Some games at today requires at atleast 3.5GB or higher, so , maybe sometimes you will have a drop fps. You can check any GTA V video what proof what i'm saying.

Now, R9 390 is a card designed for 1440p resolution, you will be able to handle any game at 1080p, i'm not sure about future games, but i will bet its a big yes for future gaming.

Pro about this: both card will handle both games you mentioned, at really nice resolution, and your PSU will be able to handle the card listed, so, the only thing you need is choose which one.

Lucas, with this, are you saying me i can't go for 960? You can go for 960 (4gb version recommended to your resolution), but, maybe you will have a worse performance at gaming compared with any card which i listed above (GTX 970/R9 390).

Tell me if still have questions or maybe my english is terrible! lol!
