Help Me Reset Winodws 7?

Hi, I have a HP laptop, really old 2008-2009 idk.
I don't care about the files or anything I forgot the password and I want it back 🙁 any1 help? remember I DONT Care about any of the files, also I don't have a disc for reinstalling windows. Also remember only have password for the "Standard" account permissions.

Does the original recovery partition exist?
or
Do you have the DVD set the recovery partition prompted you to make?
or
Do you have a viable Windows 7 install media?

And....do you have the license key?

um... I do not understand anything other than the License Key which I already copied down but I don't have a Installation Disk for Windows

the big question is - do you have they key code? it's probably on a sticker, stuck to the bottom or even inside the battery compartment. if you have that, you can USUALLY find an alternate install disk or even download a tool from microsoft to help recover / restore the system.

we were assuming you'd just re-install Win7 and kill whatever was there before. though it seems those links eventually lead to DigitalRiver which is no longer active. maybe try to borrow just the DVD from someone, use your key, and do a fresh install. this should be legal since the value and license is with the key, not the DVD (which they make by the millions, like ABBA records)

That link above will theoretically (maybe/probably) allow you to download the original Windows install that came with that laptop.
You use this to create an install DVD
You boot from that DVD, and do a complete reinstall
Wiping out whatever is currently on that drive.

Ah...I did not follow that HP link from above.
It does not actually work.

So, you have 2 options:
1. Buy the Factory recovery DVD set from HP
or
2. Buy your own OS, of whatever version you want, and will work with your hardware.

...which probably does not work with an OEM license. MS expects you to get the install media from whoever you bought the PC from, or whoever installed the OS.

So, you have 2 options as outlined above.
