Hi. I am having problems setting up my 2nd router witch is located in my 2nd house, I will use only the wireless function on it on my phone/tablet.

I post 2 screenshots so you can understand better my problem. I tried it several times already by connecting the router to my PC, setting it up, than reconnecting it to the switch. The wireless works for about half an hour after that I can connect to it, it shows I have full signal but no internet connection. Somebody said I have to change the ip address of router so it won't have a conflict with the 1st router.
Thank you for your help.

Solution
The best solution is to turn router 2 into a wireless AP only. Assign router 2 a static IP address in the network range of router 1 but outside the router 1 DHCP range (so anything outside 192.168.2.100 to .200 but still in the 192.168.2.x range, so for example use 192.168.2.99). Turn off DHCP on router 2 and connect it LAN port to LAN port to router 1. It would be best to use different non-overlapping radio channels for router 1 and the AP (router 2), so for 2.4GHz you have three to select from: 1, 6, and 11.

You can, but do not have to, also set the IP address of router 2 in the static address table of router 1 using its MAC address and the IP address the same as that assigned on router 2.

Hi Ady, I was wondering if the above solution had worked for you? I have precisely the same issue you are having, and have been told by AT&T technicians (phone reps) that router cascading is NOT possible with their type of hardware. But then again, I've read it can be done. So I am a bit confused. I've been dealing with this issue for a while now and I am ready to pull my hair out. Im so frustrated that I cannot figure out how to make it work.

When I set it up, like you, it works for about 30 or so mins before disconnecting (yet still showing full bars). I think I've tried everything, and would really like a detailed, dummy-type step by step tutorial on how to make this endeavor work.

Had any luck? Thanks!

(Sorry this is not a 'solution', just a continuation of the discussion. Did not see such button, a bit confusing TBH.)

PanzerChris, best to post a new post -- since this is already marked solved it will get little if any attention.

I have never come across a router that you cannot attach a second router as an AP as described.

If you actually plan to cascade the router and create a separate subnet you don't attach or configure like this, but that too should be possible from any main router.
