Help Me Set Virtual Memory w/60GB drive

I just installed a 60GB HD. I copied two of my partitions to the new one, to use as data. I original one will be for Windows 98/2K, and the swap files. Here's my setup:

1 30GB HD
­·6GB Partition for Win98
·600MB Partition for Swapfiles
·(I forgot, but the rest is for Win2K)
1 60GB HD
·52GB Partition for Data
·4GB Partition for Backups

*All are read from My Computer*

I want to set my Virtual Memory, but the numbers are funky. Plus, I just installed Windows clean. Here's what it's reporting for free HD space:

C:\5707MB Free (Windows 98)
D:\0MB Free (Winswap Partition, has nothing in it!)
E:\-24268MB Free (Data Partition, really has 40GB free)
F:\3407MB Free (Backup Partition, it's right though)

Now, how come my Winswap Partition says 0MB Free? It's not screwed up, is it? Did I partition wrong? (I hope I wasn't confusing, but I really need help.

If you set your swpfile to 1050MB it works. 1000 doesn't. Maybe 1024 might.

What the!?! 1050MB??? :lol:
I just installed Win2K, so I don't have to deal with that anymore. But, is there some reason why it's like that?

If you have set your swapfile to min. 600mb - max. 600mb it is fixed and thereby using all the 600mb. If you let windows handle it, it would show anything in between 0mb - 600mb free. So it's there, nothing wrong. Keeping it as it is makes the swapfile faster, letting windows handle it slows it down as windows would have to adjust the size of it all the time, making it slower.

I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear in my original post, but after the clean install, and all my drivers were install, Windows was handling it. I made a separate partition for the Swap file, cuz it doesn't need to be backed up. And yeah, I always keep my swap file in one size, because letting Windows resize it all the time slows it down. Plus, I have like 512MB of RAM, so I also added the ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1 in the system.ini file under [386Enh]. It would be nice to go back to Win98, because I know it more, but I think I'll be okay in Win2K. Thanks...

Don't know. I'll have to try 1024 sometime. Maybe its a Gigabyte exactly.

Anyone remember what an exact Gigabyte is?

1,048,576,000 bytes or 1048MB is 1000 Megabytes (1024x1024x1000). Maybe thats why.
