Help Me ! Settting up the bios :) Noob :(

Hello Guys
I want to ask few questions( i know i can get answers on Google but my friend suggested me this forum to get real answers this is my friend's account )
i m going to install windows 8.1 ( as my windows 7 is expired and i don't want windows 10 and i had a windows 8.1 key ready valid for 1year)
so tell me first which sata type i choose ? ide or ahci ? i have 500gb hdd (not ssd).
and then which format of partition i should use gpt or mbr?
my older hdd is damaged a year ago so i m little careful this time i will do a UEFI install anyways

ACHI and GPT are the newer technologies, so I would use those if you can. ACHI works with both hard drives and SSD's so I would use that especially if you ever plan on getting an SSD. GPT allows more partitions and is just overall more versatile than MBR.
