Moderate PC knowledge guy.

I'm upgrading my mobo, cpu, gpu, and ram (pretty much a new build right?)

Anyways, I've linked my Windows 10 to my microsoft account so windows should activate just fine. But I've been told that doing a fresh window's install is the smart thing to do. So if I'd like to basically have my same system after the fresh OS install, what steps do I take now and then?

My guess is the 3 storage drives I have (SSD for OS and current high access stuff, and 2 HDDs for file storage and such) will end up being formatted in the process, right? So I should back them up onto something (be it a web based storage or an external drive?)

Then, how would I be able to basically restore everything back? Would that be me going into my %AppData% and copying the config files of the programs in question, then pasting them in when I get the new system up and running with everything freshly downloaded?

The reason being, I stream on twitch, and having to recreate all of my OBS scenes and such sounds like a real pain. Not to mention my ableton projects and such (also produce and mix music).

Any help is insanely appreciated! Excited for the upgrade!

Here's the 3 year old build

Here's the rig with the hardware upgrades

1) When you install the OS ONLY have the SSD installed. DO NOT connect the other two drives. Those other two drivers do not need to be connected and do not need to be formatted

2) The SSD with the OS will have to be formatted.

3) You can say copy your userprofile to one of your other drives as a backup but I would NOT just copy it all back. That user profile is from another windows, which may not have all the same settings etc.

4) Windows 10 is really good about just being tossed in and it boots up. If it is that big of a deal you can just backup your SSD and then try to boot from it on your new system.

i have gone from a AMD AM3 CPU, to a 6th Gen Intel and then to a AM3+ CPU and that was a year and a half ago and have had no issues what soever with this install of windows 10. I also use the Windows to Go which is designed for that but I have plugged it in everything from 8th Gen intels, Ryzen, to Server and PC's from 2006 with no issue.

Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to refer to this. I know I can pull the app data for my OBS settings, but I think i'll just go through everything and do all the settings fresh.
