Your wish list lacks an optical drive.
You will need one to load applications (software) such as Windows XP.
DVD burners can be purchased for around $33 and up.

CPU Fan Power Connector
Chipset Fan Power Connector
System Fan Power Connector
Auxiliary Fan Power Connector

what should I be plugging in where and typically what colour is ground and +12v???

forgot to mention how scary putting on the stock heatsink was...took a lot of force to get it to clip in.

Look at your mobo manual:
CPU fan power connector is for the CPU heat-sink fan lead.
Chipset fan connector is for the Northbridge heat-sink fan lead IF you have a fan on the Northbridge.
System and Aux fan connectors are for your case fans.
Ground inside a computer is Black, (very unlike your house wiring).
Most (but not all) connectors in a computer case only go on one way.
