Original post:
Hello all,
My old LG W2261v died.
Main use is games and budget arround 250€ or less (old LG were 180€). Can be more if worthy.
With my specs (at bottom) i cannot get a decent performance on 1440p resolution, but i would like something for the future.
Still i think 1080p monitors would be enough.
I think i will upgrade to a NVIDIA card but G-sync monitors are too expensive and not sure if i need it.
I don't want speakers.
22" was not bad.

Doubts:
1- Playing on a 1440p monitor at 1080p would look like like playing on a 1080p monitor at 900p or 720p?, i mean, big pixels and a bit blurrier? (i think it should look like 1080p on 1080p but seems it does not work like that).

1b- Maybe it is better supersampling than more resolution? But I tried supersampling on some games and i didn't like it, and to have "same feeling" on 1440p than on 1080p (on native res), i think is not worth it (?? 😛).

2- Are 144hz screens worth it even if, by now, i won't be close to get those FPS? (maybe i could on some but in others not even 30fps xD ). Some say that playing on games that cannot reach 144hz feel pretty bad once you have played at 144hz; so if, by now (maybe in future), i cannot be able to reach a lot on some games, not sure if would be worse than a 60hz screen.

3- I have been looking for some of the most "popular" monitors and i have seen most of them have TN panels. I like the best colours i can get but i usually get motion sickness on games so maybe better refresh rates are better for me than better IPS colours?

Monitors (starting point; pretty sure i'll end up with something totally different, not even what you suggest xD , but you'll help me anyway 😉 ):
1- iiyama G-MASTER GB2488HSU-B3 303€: i feel a bit attracted to this, don't know why as it is a bit expensive, has speakers and freesync.

2- Benq monitors (looking at this web i have seen a lot of pro players with Benq monitors, not sure if marketing / and no, no plans to be a pro player xD):
2a- BenQ ZOWIE XL2411 259€
2b- BenQ XL2411Z (unavailable, was 2nd hand for 200€)

3- Samsung C24FG70FQU 284€: Curved, not sure for nongaming stuff.

4- AOC G2460PF 254€

5- ASUS VG248QE 259€

6- Acer Predator GN246HLB 240€

7- HP OMEN 25 254€

8- LG 24GM79G-B 300€

9- DELL S Series S2418H 210€ HDR Monitor (not sure if real or worth it as the first iiyama seems to have 8-bit colours and this has 6/ a bit confused)

10- BenQ Monitor EW277HDR 247€ HDR Monitor (not sure if real or worth it)

11- iiyama ProLite XUB2492HSU-B1 202€ : IPS panel.

12- BenQ BL2420PT 250€ IPS panel

I am also looking for monitors like the LG i had that are arround 150€ or less, but as i have usually motion sickness and eyestrain i think maybe it could be because a bad monitor or some lack of features (althought it looked good for me).

Hope you can help me to get a better idea of what do i need for me, to start to search it. Any help-suggestion is welcome 😉 .
Thank you very much in advance :) .

Hello all again,
My first post helped me to get my ideas together, so now I have a better idea of what i need to ask, but still this is a way to put my ideas on order 😛 .

Ok, i ordered the Iiyama i posted on the OP, but i returned it because it took arround 30min-1hour to get colours "settled", and if the sun hit it directly it did "heat" it, something that with my old LG didn't happen, so maybe coating was not too good.
Also once colours were fine, i feel like it looked like the LG so it didn't feel like an improvement.

Because of that i'm now looking at IPS monitors.

The problem is that i usually get eye strain and that sometimes leads to motion sickness so i have to look for good monitors that have no ghosting or blur and maybe input lag or these kind of things, and it is really hard to find that info (although maybe my problems are not related to that, i think it would be better).
To get that i have to aim for monitors like ASUS MG279Q or Acer XF270HU that are expensive (that would not be a problem if i could have them for 10 years or more, but i am scared they could break just after warranty and feel really bad).

So, my "perfect" monitor would be: IPS, 144hz, low response time, resolution not higher that 1440p (check my specs), not glossy screen (because Sun hits it at some moment), not curved, no speakers, not ultrawide (pretty sure i forget something).

I know these are imposible, but something close to that would be good, to start to look for info.

LGs screens have been good for me (my monitor and TV) but it is hard or imposible to find something like i said, so forgetting that, if you know a good LG screen, please tell me.

Thank you very much in advance.

P.S. Sorry if it takes me some days to answer as i am going to be pretty busy and without easy internet access for some (not sure how many) days 😉 .

P.S.2. Has anyone heard of this brand yashi, they claim to have 2ms IPS monitors on their website, and thought that was imposible (not reviews of it but it is curious).

P.S.3. What about "Cheap Korean monitors" i have heard about?

2ms on IPS is impossible mate , they can rate them how they like but generally a good tn is between 4-12ms & IPS generally between 6-16ms.

I have to ask , bearing in mind your current specs why 144htz ??

You'd be better looking at a good 60-75htz panel with really good panel quality .

You are never going to push more than 60fps with your CPU or GPU

You could likely get a good 24 inch 1080p 75htz 1ms tn panel & a new GPU with what you paid for that ilyamma.

Well, 144hz, is because i think it would be smooth once i upgrade my PC.

About "good 60-75htz panel with really good panel quality", i accept any suggestion, so please feel free to add as much as you want :) .

And about : "You could likely get a good 24 inch 1080p 75htz 1ms tn panel & a new GPU with what you paid for that ilyamma". Not sure if true, i'm pretty sure i'll need more money xD . But after trying tn panels i'm not sure if IPS would be better for me as i think i miss better colours.
About the GPU, i got a 1060 but i was affected for a problem that some (a lot) computers have with Windows (some after CU some on any version of it) and made them worse with NVIDIA drivers (with an ATI i tested i just had OS problems), so i am waiting to get them fixed or get a new generation of cards.

Quick question just in case someone knows:
23.8" HP 24w IPS
23.8" BenQ VZ2470H VA (AMVA+ )

Would the BENQ be better or similar? (both 125€)

I am using now the HP 24w and it is really blurry when moving (or in the ufo test). I have been using an old CRT with awful colours and comparing both the CRT is really clear (i can see the alien without problem).
But i am confused: is this because a slow response time or something else? (HP is suposed to have a "normal" 5ms and i tried all 5 response times settings on OSD menu without change).

Sorry for keep updating this but i'm still undecided and the worse is i have little time to order and test monitors.
