Hi, everyone, im going to get a new card for my Xmas, hehe
here are the 3 card im thinking about

(Im currently running Asus Ti4800 SE V9480/TVD 8AGP)

1: Asus Radeon 9600XT/VTD
2: Asus FX 5700 ( i believe its not out yet)
3: Asus GF FX5600 V9560TD 256MB TVO/DVI (new one)
4: Asus Ti4800 8X V9280 S2 Super Fast

thax for your commends :)

hold the money, seriously. FX5700 and R9600 will give u little improvement, sure it's alot better at DX9, but why dont u buy a DX9 card when DX9 becomes mainstream. This way it's cheaper, it's faster, it's prettier.

FX5700Ultra, the next Ti4200? seems so

CoolSquirtle, you are totaly right, i was thinking that way, in the beginning, but 1 of my friend offers me $180CAD for my Ti4800, that really make me wants to change to a new card.

Should i really keep my card, and wait until next year?

thax for the commends :)

really? 180$ that's kinda cheap... i sold my Ti4200-8x for 200$CAD 😛

I'd hold until next year.

The R9600XT or the FX5700, but the main thing is price. They are close in performance, but you will see better more options out of a newer card in '04.

However for that price $180 CDN, you're closer to the R9600PRO level whihc is a good card, and rather inexpensive. It would basically be an almost even swap. I've seen R9600Pro for $209 CDN. I'd try and make sure I got the 2.86ns Samsung memory if I could, to ensure good potential for overclocking. But even at stock speeds it'll beat the GF4ti in all the newer games and in many of the older games too.

<A HREF="http://" target="_new">NCIX has a Sapphire R9600pro for $220</A>, but there isn't a way to tell what kind of memory is on it for sure, unless you live in Burnaby.

Also check for discounts at places like FutureShop and other retailers, I've seen FS reach $219 (on sale) for a BuiltByAti card, which always has the good Samsung memory.

Oh Yes, and a big NO on the FX5600!

If you can swing an extra $40 - Circuit City has the 9800 non-pro for $249 right now. It will destroy the 5700 and 9600XT. That's what I did. The card didn't have the Samsung memory but it flashed to a 9800 Pro easily and is clocked stable at near 9800 Pro speeds. Runs cool and quiet.

If you are looking for Canadian sites, dangeo.com has a Sapphire Atlantis 9600Pro for around $215 canadian...don't know what memory it has though.

Guys thax a lot for the advices.

Today, my friend just took my Ti4800, hehe right now im

used my old old Geforce2, k back to topic, how if i take

out the 3: Asus GF FX5600 V9560TD 256MB TVO/DVI (new one)

from my list, and put the ATI 9700 PRo? i read the review

the price for the 9700 pro will drop soon (maybe?). but i

couldn't find any 9700 pro in local store (im in Toronto),

and i went on the CanadaComputer web, and find ATI Radeon

9600 Pro 128MB DDR more info $235 CAD, is this card better

than 9600 XT and 5700?

i believe, i have to get new video card within 2 weeks.

thax for the reading, and sorry for my poor english :)

The 9600 PRO is slightly inferior to the 9600XT.

The GeforceFX 5700 is generally faster than the 9600 PRO in DirectX 7/8 titles, but slower than the 9600 PRO in DirectX 9 titles.

9600 PRO is your best bet.

------------------
Radeon 9500 (hardmodded to PRO, o/c to 322/322)
AMD AthlonXP 2400+ (o/c to 2600+ with 143 fsb)
3dMark03: 4055

You should get at least Raedon 9700 (non-PRO) or something faster.

Ti4800SE to R9600 PRO/XT isn't a good upgrade

Local retailer. Techtronics (a local store) had is White-Box OEM (actually just in Anti-static bag w/ Software CD) for $209 a little while back 2-3 weeks ago. They also had the non-pro for $189. You should be able to find similar prices for White-box OEMs at a retailer of such things near you.

Spitfire, it's not so much an upgrade as a replacement.

Like we said for next to no money ($20 diff.) and R9600Pro is a good change. Of course more expensive items would be even more so.

However spending the money on that upgrade when even better products are available is not a good idea IMO. The R9600P will bridge the gap beween here and the next gen cards like the RV380.

In T.O. you should be able to find alot of good retailers.

TigerDirect is in Markham (near the D.V.P. and Steeles)

They have this FIC R9600P for 219.;

<A HREF="http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=624858&Sku=F451-9601&CatId=1088" target="_new">http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=624858&Sku=F451-9601&CatId=1088</A>

You should be able to beat that price.

Check thte Computer Paper aka HUB, or Toronto Computes both of which have some great prices listed. If you go downtown near U of T on College (around the 300 level there are TONS of them, seriously like 20 retailers within 3 blocks). Also at Kennedy and Ellsmere (in Scarberia) there's alot of them too.

If you can't find an R9600P for around $200 in T.O. then I think you aren't looking.

The R9600XT and FX5700U are better cards, but also considerably more expensive. If you can get an R9600XT for around that $235 level, then that would be worth it, anything more is too much of a premium for limited improvement IMO.

- You need a licence to buy a gun, but they'll sell anyone a stamp <i>(or internet account)</i> ! <A HREF="http://www.redgreen.com" target="_new"><font color=green>RED</font color=green> <font color=red>GREEN</font color=red></A> GA to SK

<b>YOU CAN'T GET AN FX5700U for $50 EXTRA EITHER! </b>

HAha!

Actually the FX5700U is usually selling at $320+

Whereas the BBA R9600XT is selling at around $288+

So for a premium of $80-110 I wouldn't suggest either unless their prices can be brought closer to the ~$220 of many of the R9600Pros out there.

The funny thing is you would likely be able to get an R9800NP for close to that $320 of the FX5700U.

Right now though they are kinda rare.

Look at the Price for a Sapphire R9800NP at MemoryExpress here in Calgary (which isn't the cheapest for Graphics Cards) $369. So for $40 (likely less from other stores) more than the FX5700U you can get a far superior card.

But that's the problem, for just a little more you can get more, etc. However for almsott eh same price as he got for his card he can get an R9600Pro whihc is a good temprorary replacement, and while not a worthy upgrade if you are paying full price, for $30-40 it's a great jump from the GF4ti for modern games.

Don't buy anything SE for the most part.

The Ultimate edition is ONLY if you want something silent, and no it's not a terrible overclocker, just not as good as some (main reason is they have the 3.0 ns memory on it).

The Regular R9600Pro isn't bad for $229 (just seems a tad bit much, but it's ok). The ASUS R9600XT I've seen reviewed with the 2.86ns memory, so if it comes with that that would be a GREAT carb, but like I said, now we are talking about $100 above the price you sold it, then add GST + PST, that's a lota money, but a nice card. The FX5600, not worth it, it should be CHEAPER than the R9600pro! The FX5800 is definitely not a good choice at all (think of it this way, it is the card that supposedly cripled nV), plus at that price an R9600Pro + $135 + tax means you'd be better off wtht the R9600pro and saving your money for the mid level RV380 replacement, or the mid level brother of the NV40 when they come out after Xmas.

Expect the FX5700U to sell for more than the $300, and at that price not worth it. If it is a non-ultra it may be cheaper but likely not worth it either being so new.

The best bet is the R9600Pro price wise, and close is the R9600XT (should have VIVO which is NICE), and the FX5700 would depend on the price.

The new cards are expected in February, MMMmm right around Birthday and TAX time, NOoOICE!

For ATI there will be the R420/423 (one is AGP the other is PCI-EX) and the RV380 (the replacement of the R9600 series which is supposed to have the power of the R9800 series but at a mid-range price.
From nV we will have the NV40. Now both the R42X and NV40 will be kickAss (or at least should be), but the RV380 should make a nice mid-level smart shoppers card IMO.

Which one I get all depends on what they have to offer.

Seriously I strongly urge you to go College and Spadina area, the deals there are AWESOME. I would expect you to get an R9600Pro for $200. Now that makes alot of sense to me as this really isn't a good time to upgrade from that GF4ti, but a replacement at about the same price is just right. Then save your scratch and buy a new card in the new year when the technology is unveiled.

Once again, that's just my two frames worth.

EDIT: I almost forgot, check to see if that R9600XT comes with an HL2 coupon, if so, then I'd up my recommendation for that if you think you'll like/get HL2.

if it was me, i would get the ASUS 9600XT

You know what i'm wondering though, if a Valve was stupid enought to let some hacker steal the source code for HL2, then these hacker are gonna make up HL2 download Key generators within a week of it's launch lolz
