Help me upgrade my monitor

Hey guys i currently have an old monitor it is the ViewSonic VA2431WM. I want to upgrade my monitor but i'm wondering if it will be worth it. I want a 1080p monitor i'd rather not upgrade to 1440p. My price range is 250 dollars. What i'm want is for the picture to be much sharper and better color. Sorry I don't know much about monitors. If the change isn't going to be distract enough i'll just save up for a 1440p monitor and upgrade my GPU as well. I currently have an RX 480. Sorry if this post is jumbled up i have had little sleep. Do you play eSports games competitively? If you do, look for a 1080p 144 Hz monitor like this one:
